Budget November 2025

Same it’s not worse not by a long way.

Absolutely ridiculous populist nonsense
If it wouldn't be such a catastrophe for the country as a whole I’d root for Reform next time. I’ll be more or less retiring by then so I won’t have to work for the fuckers for long. And there’s a perverse part of me that would like to see them come up against the reality of actually governing and making actual decisions. But then I remember that like everyone else there are people I know and love who would have to deal with the real world consequences.

To add some context the last functioning Gov before this one was Theresa May and that was destroyed by brexit.

How people can say frying pan to fire when we’ve lived through Johnson and Truss is beyond me.

Sunak wasn’t horrendous but had no chance after those two.

But more fundamentally global issues like Covid and Trump together with yes brexit have destroyed us.

You can moan and you can expect miracles in the end we need to find some solutions beyond “tax the rich” or they’re all the same and let’s just take a punt on someone who destroyed the Country.

We need radical action, but are we ready for it? And are people willing to accept truths and not just fall into the media line every single time.

This thread as ECB alludes to is very insightful it shows how anger is taking root and when there’s no solutions beyond feelings bad actors get in through promising the earth. This lot although full of mistakes and incompetence are not bad they’re trying and want to do good. I can see that a mile off.

I know what you mean I got dangerously close to this with the no deal brexit nonsense.

But the same people desperate for it would have been on the streets within weeks.

A government which isn't full of mistakes and incompetence is all people are asking for. It really isn't that much to ask.

Of course! Do you know the funny thing is, I have only just realised, that when I said that, I was always going to be correct, No party lasts do they?, they all cock up one way or another.

Although admittedly, I didn't foresee Labour being this despised in such a short time.

But even mistakes and competence are subjective. To be clear, I’m not suggesting the current government is perfect. I’m not even suggesting they’ve been good. For a government with such a huge majority they’ve been ridiculously timid in many respects and yes, incompetent in other aspects. But the alternatives are genuinely terrifying. To me anyway. Other opinions are available.

Let's be honest Starmer isn't in power because he's some leader that swept the nation of its feet. The bloke is only number ten because of the lack of viable options as you've mentioned.

Just because we lack alternative doesn't mean this government should get a free ride from anyone, even those who voted for them.

There is nothing there I disagree with. I doubt many would disagree to be honest.

My belief is if this country is to keep Farage away from number ten we need a true leader, one we can all unite behind and support.

Where that leader is, I don't know.

To a lot of people, Farage is that leader. And therein lies the problem.
