• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

I think he's solid defensively and good in the air. I confess I get queasy when he's got the ball at his feet playing out from the back under pressure, though. I always feel he's an accident waiting to happen.
Let's not forget he gave us the best moment of the season so far - the winning goal against Forest in the League Cup.

Not a terrible player or an awful signing, but not a player who suits or style (neither is Cabango and a few others) and will invariably be replaced over the next 12 months with Matos’ own players. Helping to build the foundations though, but we need at least 1 ball playing CB in the starting line up.

Cabango was marking him all game but somehow is Burgess' fault for the goal.
Odd.
I thought Burgess was at fault for the 2nd Derby goal, whilst Cabango was up against the player more in open play at that corner Burgess was the nearest Swan and he was not goal side and left him freeth, e Derby player didn't get free with any clever movement, he was just poorly marked.

He’s not terrible but not outstanding either. He always seems to have at least one blunder a game that puts us in the shit. He also lacks pace just like Cabango and they struggle against a fast physical forward. I certainly wouldn’t complain if we looked at getting a replacement for one or both of them.

Even if they both stay next season I would like to see us sign a young CB to develop and be our backup rather than bringing one in on loan.

Burgess is decent enough, but that's the problem we need more than decent enough.

We need more pace at CB and Burgress for a big lad isn't physical enough for me.

I was hoping he'd be more of a physical presence when we signed him. It's the one thing that I find surprising about him.

I'd love to see him be a bit more intimidating.

I'm breaking my sabbatical.. said all of this months ago.. in all fairness to all you experts I was expecting to see this post in a few years, how's the play off charge going lads? Another comfy home win for the teams above us

Its a fine line that though, Cabango can and does put himself about and is currently on 7 or 8 yellow cards, but I agree he's big enough to be a dominant force I'd have thought.

Burgess has done ok but I certainly feel we should be looking at a CB who is capable of pushing both Burgess and Cabango next season.
Burgess will be on a good wage here, he will be difficult to shift on and the question is....was he signed to fit in to the team or because of his experience given our recent loss of both Naughton and Allen?

He will still be here next season but we need to not be signing a CB as cover for our current CB pairing.

We haven't got the squad to do that at the moment, not convinced that we will have any time soon either, especially if we keep selling our better players, Galbraith and Vipotnik could go in the summer and maybe Tymon and we'll be in another rebuild situation its where we are at the moment though with finances being tight, I really hope not though.

Not a peep from this guy when we’re playing well. One bad performance and he smugly returns like he’s a prophet. Glad to see your break hasn’t dampened your ever present pessimism.

Agreed, we need competition not cover

Burgess is solid enough, frustrating when he plays hopeless balls forward to no one at least 5 times a game but other than that he’s ok to good

Both would be good in an ideal world
Absolutely.

Ideally for me it would be one of our youngsters providing the cover rather than a youngster on loan from another club.
