• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

Who would you rather not see promoted this year ?

  • Wrexham

    Votes: 8 11.4%
  • Cardiff

    Votes: 42 60.0%
  • DGAF

    Votes: 20 28.6%

  • Total voters
    70
  • Poll closed .
I am surprised that approximately 38% of the vote have not wanted Cardiff to not be promoted.

I guess this Swansea board is a broad spectrum and not what many on here expected ( me included) .

We are a small guide to what the overall Swans fan base thinks. Do not get above ourselves is a lesson.
I’m amazed too.

Even if you put the rivalry to one side, Cardiff being promoted directly impacts us as a club in terms of:
1. Recruitment from the academy through to the first team
2. Sponsorship opportunities
3. Growing the fan base

The longer they are in a league below us the more the gap widens and the bigger the benefits for the club on and off the pitch as evidenced by the 7 years in the PL.

Wrexham on the other hand has little to no impact on us as a club barring some online trolling/banter.

Yeah, 38% are dribbling idiots.

I like Wrexham. The town’s a sh*thole, but the people are genuine (much like Swansea). My Welsh teacher back then was a massive Wrexham fan and hated Cardiff with a passion. I used to live just outside the town and watched them regularly. They weren’t great, but it was my football fix. It was back in the days when they were falling down the leagues. Carlos Edwards was one of their better players. Andy Dibble was their keeper. Some bloke called Lee Trundle seemed ok. And they had a beanpole at the back called Dennis Lawrence. Their hard core fans kept going however crap they were - fair play to them.

Then I met the now missus, got taken to the Vetch and fell in love with this team that still played in a ground that looked like it belonged in the 1800s, moved down here and then Denis bloody Lawrence and Lee Trundle turned up.
