CB our Weakest Link

Cabango is simply not good enough, poor as hell most of last season and again yesterday, plays with lead in his boots. A really poor defender.

Still a young man and worked hard to try and adapt to Martin's style of play. Solid in the air, physically strong and picks up the odd goal with two memorable ones up the road. Like all players, confidence plays a big part for him and for sure he has made a few clangers, although yesterday's was more Rushworth for me who acknowledged it at the time. Yes we can always do better and should aim to do so, but I think he is an adequate championship player who is seldom injured. Darling is the weakest defender but has other attributes and Wood continues to improve. We also have to remember they are getting used to playing with two new wing backs as well. I remember some of our less well informed fans slating Guehi for the first few games- we were fortunate to have him with Cooper's links.

Going on yesterday's game, I personally thought that midfield looked our weakest link. We seemed to be over run in midfield and we're not picking up the second balls.

I agree with some that a back 4 suits us, it did last season and believe it will this season.
2 holders, no 10 and a lone striker. I could even see Key play as a winger, could even do a job in the left side there if Naughton was needed at left back.

If there is no Ntcham then Yates up top and Piroe playing behind him.

All fair points and he does deserve some time under the new coach but for me he's just usually a second or two behind the action so he's reactive and struggles. We need better if we want to get promoted imo

Bit harsh blaming cabango for the goal. I was under the assumption that Duff wanted to cut out the fannying about at the back, then boom the keeper plays a suicidal ball to him, when he’d have been better off finding the left channel. Having said that, I thought both Wood and Cabangos distribution in general was poor yesterday, whether that was because there wasn’t much movement in front of them, I don’t know.
I think we’d be more effective as a 4,5,1 or 4,3,3

I wouldn't have been happy if I were Rushworth or Cabango and the balls they received....whoever took the throwing, was it Wood? they will be receiving the rallacking and rightly so.

There's no difference in quality between any of the current CB's, none of them are great at what they do.

Get shot of the 3 CB's, because it really isn't very good.

Hopefully Duff will sort it, and not be stubborn like the last chap was.

.
We surely give Duff the benefit of the doubt right now to play his preferred winning way.

He is still assembling his squad and I’m sure will be looking to get some proper seasoned defensive steel to fix the base of our spine. The winning edge spine that Martin broke.

Unlike Martin, Duff will absolutely then cut his cloth appropriately when the window closes.

Martin got 2 yrs, Duff doesn’t get 2 minutes with some fans.

(Btw, Duff clearly reads this forum 😉)
