Decent player by all accounts but a totally different player to Ntcham.
More of a holding midfielder.

Hes a box to box midfielder.

He was brought in as Ntcham has left, we don’t play a Ntcham number 10, we wanted another number 8 choice - which Patino is.

He’s phenomenally promising, under the right guidance he can do some real damage. Last season did well in a struggling Blackpool side with 6 assists and 3 goals as an 18/19 year old.

Arsenal will be thrilled if we develop him for them. May be useful if Grimes is sold but otherwise not something we need, surely.

He’s defensive and attacking, he’s perfect for us due to his versatility.

We developed Borini, worked out well for everyone.

We are garnering some serious depth.

The left back position still glaringly vacant however.

There’s a lot of talk from Saints that Grimes is going there alongside Downes.

Abdulai better keep working on that left foot, no chance he gets a minute in his actual position now.

Borini worked out as we went up.

I don’t see much point in so many loans unless it makes a step change in our final position.

It’s just money out for no return unless they (a) make the difference to us staying up or (b) make the difference in us getting to the playoffs.

We won’t know that until the end of the season though, as we didn’t when we signed Borini.

If they give us a better chance of going up by promoting us towards those play offs then I’m all for it, and there is no reason to think the quality we have brought in on loan won’t do that.

There is also every chance to keep the likes of Rushworth, Ashby or Patino should we wish to upon promotion and give us the edge in the race to sign them should they do well.

Even if we don’t go up then I don’t see why any of them wouldn’t return on loan like DeGuzman did if it’s beneficial for all parties.

Football is a short term game, far too much negative focus is put on loans.
