I don't doubt that everyone has their views on this season, but there's a distinct difference to me in our position in the table, which I would have taken before the season started, and the way we've been playing, bar one or two exceptions, over the last 2 months. As I see it, Cooper's current frame of mind has appeared to have shifted from trying to win every game, to trying to not lose every game. This has a couple of obvious parallels. As someone said yesterday, one is us under Carvalho, where we only had to gain a small number of points to survive, so caution became the name of the game, with disastrous consequences. The other was Wales under Hughes, 12 points out of 12, and then caution again cost us qualification. Having watched us and listening to the ex Swansea players as pundits, I'm noted that Lee Trundle in particular seems, like myself, disappointed that we're not more dominating and attack minded. One comment by one of the Sky co-commentators was how good Cooper was at "sticking to his guns" no matter what happens on the pitch. However it seems he wants to stick with them even if they're loaded with blanks. Personally I just wish he'd let them off the leash, and go for it, even if we end up losing, because we're losing anyway.

I don't understand why he continues to select players that are out of form.

The parallel is with Monk, anti-football, one dimensional, favouritism, lack of cohesion, defensive and takes credit when we win and blames other factors when we don't.

With Ayew occasionally turning up in the right place to save the day

A problem we have ( back to the bee in my bonnet) is the same as under Monk, the manager has brought in players to play a certain way and when that fails there's nowhere to go.
Has any of his favourites got real speed?

I always believed that we were trying to employ a squad that a manager would fit around. But we have the opposite.

Overloaded defensively, Bennett, Latibeaudiere, Cabango, Guehi, Naughton and Cooper, four full backs too.

5 centre midfielders, no strikers and a number of forward players but not really wingers or strikers.

Would need a big change uf we do stay down as I think Cooper would probably move on

You’ve never liked him. Unlike me 🤣

I was warming to him, well, ok, a bit, as it looked like he was learning. He’s better than I feared and thought. But...looks increasingly like the usual ‘Badgeman’ churned out by coaching schools. Monk, Clement, Cooper. ‘Shape’ men that have no imagination or flair. Coaching by numbers. Sell.

That said we could be playing like this and down the arse end, so he deserves credit for our position for sure. Next season, whether we go up or not (and I’m still holding on to that thought, it’s still on) we will be down that arse end of whatever division we are in if he is allowed to continue and indulge his preferences.

im with you mon, tried to warm to him and was getting there post norwich. Why he is reverting to this shower now is anyone's guess. Hoping Palace will take him if promoted or not and we go for a Valerien Ishmael, Appleton etc etc

I'm cautious not to be too critical because promotion is still on and will continue to be even if we lose on Saturday. Brentford are still not out of their wobble and last night will take it's toll. Going from 2-0 up to ending up with a draw feels like a defeat if not arguably worse. I'm not going to fall into the trap of thinking Watford are invincible, we showed quite clearly when we faced them and they've had numerous wobbles along the way after starting so well.

It hasn't been great by a long stretch, but we are still in contention by hook or by crook.

There are obviously reservations about how things would be if we got promoted, and there is a fear it will be a rerun of the Clement days, and the best we can hope for in the Prem is a bit of Monk Ball.
