Cooper

It’s hardly like cooper didn’t have a decent squad at his disposal. Easily a top 6 team… if he’s actually got us playing football we could have done some damage.

Good source saying Steve Cooper to leave the club this week. Before next game probably

Word from official at club is that Mike Marsh's absence down too personal tragic family matters - a family member suddenly passing. Would think Marsh will follow Cooper wether club like it or not.

Not sure what jobs out there for them rite now. More chance of them getting job if they leave now though rather than try and take this poor squad through a season in Champ and end up mid table or getting sacked when the player don't perform. Squad not good enough don't think.

Margetson absence down to his involve with England at Euros. Unclear if he will leave but would think he leave too.

No news on new manager - Alan Tate maybe? Interim? Toshack? Andy Scott the Scout? Can't see the club having anyone to inspiring. Not going to pay compensation (irony) to another club for Appleton or flynn etc. So will be an out of work manager or someone at u23s level premier league maybe.

Crazy this club could have saved time and money letting Cooper go to Palace a few weeks ago and got a start on coming season. Why did hey hold out for 3 million, could have just dropped that got a little and save now on getting new manager and paying off Cooper.

Dont blame him for leaving. Club haven't backed him since he arrived. Got POs x2 on a non existent budget, layers that can't play football who are old, injured, or from the MLS. Hard to ignore if recruitment was better in Jan we would probably be Premier League tight now.

If it wasn't for his contacts the loan players wouldn't have come in and we would never have done as well as he has.

Talk is club have no more money spend on players unless they get a high high price for some of their players now,and they can use a small amount of that. grimes linked? Could we get 10m? Don't know who else anyone would come in for.

All about money. Ending up we paying out more than if we let Cooper go weeks ago. Why didn't we sort it then. Put him on gardening leave and get a manager in before we start training and pre season games. New guy will be 3 weeks behind and it is going to effect our first few weeks of Champ at least. Predicting bad season

Imagine club had backed him and bought him players that could play the way he has talked about. Easy to forget he had e likes of sancho, foden, woodman, guehi, browster, Gallagher, and more with England u17. Not as hard getting them to play good footy compared to the crop in the squad now. Not even mentioning the squads (non existen) athletic ability.

Be nice if the club went all out to get Eddie Howe. No way we pay his wage demand though is there. Hope they turn a corner nowwhen this is over and we get a good manager and back them. Dream on though

Sorry 4 bad grammar and spelling

I just don’t get this non existent budget thing… we spent more than most last season.

£4 million on Ayew’s wages alone… £800k Lowe, £750k Whittaker… £35k a week on Hourihane plus loan fee.

The board have backed the manager every year since they’ve been here… in my opinion they spent too much trying to keep us in the Premier League.

Wages are committed spending thou. Couldn't get rid of Ayew so we might as well have used him. Owners panicked to stay in Premier league and bad decisions were made when it was too late. Signing clucas, roque mesa. Bad decisions. Rather than building for a champ squad when relegation looked likely in the January, and we signed a past prime Ayew for club record fee and crazy wages . Remember roultledge and dyer didn't play in champ 4 a while because they had bonus money due if they made appearances.

Compare the transfer fee values to what other clubs are spending. Brentford signed Toney for 5 million, who have we signed even compares to this? Hourihane an aging midfielder whos legs have gone, could have used that on a hungry striker? Lowe hardly been outstanding has he. He should have dun better with the amount of games and chances he got last season

I can confirm Marsh was absent through personal reasons.

Are you talking about last season? Can't say we had a easily top 6 squad. Who in our squad gets into Norwich Watford Brentford or Bournemouth teams? Grimes and Ayew maybe, can't say anyone else would have. Lots of overperforming players

Do you honestly think the players in that squad were capable of playing football? I don't think style at all costs is the best approach. Has to be a long term thing building a squad that is capable to do it.

It’s just the usual received wisdom mate. The club has been run sensibly. Let’s hope COVID hasn’t wrecked it.

I'll agree from a business perspective its been run great, making a profit ... the problem i have is we won't compete at the top if we are running it too much like a business. Not as if we have masses of emerging talent right now. The academy was ransacked last season, lost category 1 status , its not playing in premier league 2 and can't attract the players who we used to that have got us so much money. We wouldn't get James, Mcburnie, byers, grimes, fulton with the current set up. We need stability now, while we build the academy back up to support the first team in 3-4 seasons

Stu James reporting part of it down to coopers frustration of no number 9 in January

Forgetting Jordan Morris and Whittaker who he never played then… fuxk me eyes

Jordan Morris and Whittaker are wingers (and not great ones at that) ... not number 9s. He wanted a type of player and the club didn't provide it, every right to be frustrated.

Besides Morris and Whittaker had they're chances, Morris wasn't fit after his last ACL and not playing for months and ended up injuring himself. Whittaker played many a game and didn't show any signs of being able to positively influence a game. Needs a lot of work

Accidental up arrow

Whittaker scored two goals in three starts and barely got a look in whilst Cooper whined about his lack of options upfront.

He scored against Derby at the end of the season and a cup game vs Man City. His biggest involvement was the 4 games we lost in a row ...

Then why didnt he leave then? Instead of late into preseason after signing 2 strikers for him
Its a bit of an excuse really, Ayew can play there and did it well for us after Monk was sacked

Would you leave and turn down 200k + in earnings over the contract period? No

Club should have sorted this, he isn't leaving entirely on his own accord that's for sure.

And as for Ayew, come on that was 6 years ago now. He couldn't do that anymore.

Thats what hes doing now though?
There was a load of us on here asking him to leave before the play offs
Like it makes sense and maybe the club said they'll back him in the summer, and hed be allowed to leave if another job was available
And hes now annoyed that he didnt get out
And as for Ayew, hes better being older up front than out wide
