• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

Club did a fantastic job last night, they come in for a lot of criticism at times but last nights build up was pure theatre.

Like it or not but it’s all about the “ product “ these days , nearly 21k and a win ….job done👍

It might not suit some narratives, but we are finally on the right path. We're starting to look like we have found the right combination: a bright, young, enthusiastic manager who has finally got his trusted backroom staff watching his back, and a couple of Swansea's finest on board too. What's not to like? 🫶

Yep. Football is a business these days, performed on and off the pitch.

For all the Wrexham love in from the sky commentators last night they did highlight one thing that Wrexham have done brilliantly and that's their commercial revenue

Wrexham's - approx £20m
Swansea's - approx £2.5m

In fairness, they got lucky, Reynolds was looking around for a non league side to promote his ego, it could have easily have been Dagenham and Redbridge. Wrexham won the lottery that day. Forever a mid table Championship side, if he stays around.

Paid for hospitality and didn't regret it at all. That's a sign of good value and, as you state, the effort by everyone was clear.

Do you mind me asking which hospitality you booked? Thinking of booking one of the options for the lad's birthday in the new year, looking at the LT10 lounge if anyone has done that?

A lot of it depends on maintaining the interest that drives the commercial deals. A couple of years spent swimming in the mid table Championship mire will turn a lot of people off. So far they've basically had a story to tell each season. Finishing twelfth after a campaign of kick and rush won't put viewers in seats by comparison.

And don't underplay Rob McElhenny in this. He was the one initially looking for a club and talked Reynolds into it.

From what Gorringe said in his interview few weeks ago, we will be getting a large sponsor next season and it's the biggest we have had in a while.

Ryan Reynolds is a sharp businessman with the charisma to make people forget that. I believe he's made more money from companies like his gin and mobile phone businesses than he has from acting. The minute Wrexham stops being profitable for him, he'll sell his stake in a heartbeat. Not so sure about McElhenny, he seems more invested in the team, but he's also an actor, so who knows?

I know for a fact there’s been a discussion over the stadium naming rights.
I also know one of the company’s involved in talks over a major sponsorship deal but I’m not saying because if it gets out they’ll know it’s me.

That’s why they’re trying to buy the ground from the council. Naming rights I mean. At the moment the council are entitled to a percentage.
Have to buy MM out as well though.
