Wow, I can't believe this bloke, he's literally cycling around London, targeting mainly people stopped in heavy traffic, or at a red light, touching their phones and reporting them to the police,,

I have never been one for using whilst actually moving, but I strongly disagree with what he is doing, what harm can someone do when they are stationary? You may as well give 6 points and a £200 fine, for changing the radio station.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bgtrNz1mFw

I'm surprised the cps are even allowing his evidence, he's obviously doing this for social media monetary gain, which should be illegal, to act in the manner he does.

How the hell did the law on using a mobile phone while driving, get twisted to come to this? With the likes of Mikey around, you could be sat in a traffic jam, not budged for ten minutes, pick your phone up to text the family I'll be late, and if you get caught 6 points, that's a bloody joke surely, what possible danger can you cause, when you are not moving.?

You could pour a flask of tea when stationary, even do a jigsaw, but touch your phone 6 points.. What an absolute joke!

Ha Ha I shouldn't watch his videos, he winds me up.

Whilst I think he is somewhat a hypocritical vigilante, in the fact that he’s weaving in and out of traffic, actively looking at drivers, and has a known objective to do this rather than looking at the bloody road himself, I’m behind the fines, but not the way he’s going about it, I’ve lost one friend due to her using a mobile, luckily she didn’t kill anyone else, and another friend who has never walked properly since he did the same, so I’m behind the ethics of not using them, but I also partially agree with what you’re saying, however in that clip, there’s a fine line of “stationary” and stuck in a traffic jam, they’d stopped at lights, in London especially, if she had looked up from her phone to go on green any fker could walk on road, or a cyclist could come past etc, not saying that’s strictly her fault, but I guess the law translates that to non attention, but, if I’m being hypocritical of myself, I don’t disagree with your statement about if you were stuck in a proper jam, and there was “no end in sight” then it’s not “harmful” but obviously still unlawful, but some laws as we know are an arse, but yeah Mickey is every bit as dangerous in my eyes, he’s not paying due care and attention, and should be told by the police that if he wants to practice enforcement, he should seek employment, but, there also is a simple answer too, don’t use your phone, or, go hands free.

I'd agree with Arthur in the main. While people should stay off their phones while behind the wheel, even when stopped, he's being as much of a danger as they are. Not to mention the prick factor in that he's going out there looking for people breaking the rules and then either gets in their faces or puts himself in harms way, only to then put the videos online presumably in an attempt to make money.

The whole thing about never looking at your phone screen is also a bit ridiculous when pretty much all newer cars have what is practically a TV screen in the middle of the dashboard.

Mobile phones and driving do not mix, horrific bedfellows.

However, the current legislation around them does need to change. As you pointed out, all new cars and a lot of older have pretty much an ipad in the middle of the dashboard now. I'm not saying it is correct to be allowed to use the cars ipad either, but if you are permitting one, you've got to look at the other as well. I also know you can get prosecuted if it can be proven that you were knobbing about with the cars screen when you were involved in an incident / accident. Sometimes technology moves quicker than what legislation does.

On a slightly related note to the OP, in regard to that fella annoying him. Someone by the moniker of DJAudits keeps popping up on my youtube feed, now that bloke winds me up, but I also like the way he keeps his cool as well. I couldn't deal with him in real life if he turned up at my workplace.

You’ve inadvertently given me an idea for Saturday night television!
The prick factor!
It may not get through the copyright stage though as I’m proposing we wade through YouTube and assemble pricks like mickey and the judges and public decide who is the biggest prick in an X factor type search 😂

Agree with all that. I've only had a car with one of those screens this year and to be fair, the first thing that comes up on it when you turn the engine on is a warning to not interact with it while driving. Most of the controls are on the steering wheel (volume, answer phone call, etc), so if you're sensible, you can do everything necessary without taking a hand off the wheel or looking at the screen, which is functionally no different than putting the wipers on or adjusting your lights.

The best thing would be for mobiles to be left in a bag or pocket when driving a car. Unfortunately so many of us are wedded to our screens that they're inevitably close to hand at all times. Not sure I see why someone at a complete stop can't have a quick glance at their phone though. They ideally shouldn't, but not sure how that counts as an offence.

On a related note, I was driving on Carmarthen Road the other day and someone had one of those phone holders attached to the middle of their windscreen, directly below their rear view mirror. I can't believe that's legal, as it would surely affect the driver's view?

The guy is a bloody fruitcake, how nobody has bopped him one right on his hooter is beyond me, I mean if it's not bad enough you will potentially get 6 points and a heavy fine because of him, you then have to put up with the way he speaks to you..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSfz23GlySE

Only one thing happening if some cyclist did that to me, and then told me about it, I'm getting out of the car and getting the go pro camera strapped to his helmet, and destroying the evidence think it would be a lot cheaper financially.. Criminal damage v 6 points and a 200 quid fine? Touch wood, I have no points, but I would bet declaring 6 points would cost a fair bit bit on the insurance renewal.

lol just looking at his twitter bio, reported 1,387 drivers since 2019, 1,834 penalty points, £106,186 in fines, then check out my you tube channel..warra a scumbag

I see some horrendous stuff from the bus in Bristol with people texting in moving cars. There should be NO screens allowed in cars. No phones, no ‘infotainment’. Just fucking drive.

No music? I hate driving anyway I might stop altogether if I couldn’t have some tunes.

Yeah, he’s a mahoosive twange!
He’s as dangerous as anyone he’s trying to call out on that video!
The facts of whether he’s right or wrong as to pointing out people breaking the law, is irrelevant, he’s as, if not, more of a liability, whilst all the people he pulls shouldn’t be doing what they’re doing, he’s riding like a knob, and then threatening magistrates as he doesn’t like people swearing at him!
In answer to your question of how he’s not been bopped, that camera is his shield big time, I’m not condoning he gets a good hiding, but I’d not lose any sleep if he did, it’s hard to agree with his statement and rally when he’s a danger himself, annoyingly, whilst cycling is permitted on roads, there was a huge designated path on the right hand side, why doesn’t he do his stint safely from there? Just take his little picture and go to the police if that’s what he feels he should do? He told one driver to move on even though neither party was fully engaged on the road due to his vigilante campaign.
It’s maddening as I agree with his points, but yeah, knob head!
I liken him to these audit videos you see, where the people film police stations or whatever, just to argue with the police or whoever that they’re entitled to film, and spew all sorts of law enforcement rules at them, just because they can, must be bloody exhausting living in their minds.

Yes, I have watched a few more of his vids today, he's a beaut, he even calls a Chinese looking chap fat.

What I think is, more shame on the police and cps accepting his videos, there was one I watched Gandalf Corner in London, where he basically hides behind a bush, then steps into the middle of the road to prevent people from jumping traffic, somebody moved their car towards him, and they got prosecuted.

How he gets away with it, is beyond me.. He has not exactly the physique of someone intimidating, yet so far nothing.. I reckon if I tried to replicate his videos, I would be punched to the ground within the first 5 videos I did.
