• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

It’s a remarkable story. From a company that was making knock down versions of old Renault models just twenty five years ago, to having the top selling European car in 2024. They have previously held this accolade but were overtaken by Tesla in 2023, however only for a year.

Incredible value for money for a new model, a shade under £25k for a brand new Bigster. The styling is a bit boxy in places and you won’t always get soft feel trim, but if you’re not so fussy then this probably doesn’t bother you.

They have also spent hundreds of millions of pounds ensuring product quality. I have seen their Romanian plant a few times and it’s up there with Nissan Sunderland for state of the art facilities. A real success story.

I never realised how cheap they are, till googling the prices, some of their cars 24 plate are not far off a 5 year old fiesta, with 40k miles on the clock.

They have localised a considerable part of their supply chain, and with Romanian blue collar labour rates being one third of Western Europe, it means that they can deliver prices which undercut other models.

My mate had a duster for years and loved it. He was told it was just basically a previous model X Trail under the skin at half the price. He’s now trying MG which he reckoned had more kit and was around the same price. I’m trying to convince him the Chinese are brainwashing him through the radio to recruit him to their new Terracotta Army, but for some reason I can’t understand, he’s not biting. Doesn’t he read twitter?

My father, for most of his life has had cars from the usual German companies (BMW, Porsche, Mercedes), but bought a Dacia as a ‘runaround’ about 5 or 6 years ago…and absolutely raves about it. One of his favourite cars he’s ever owned.

We've had Dacias on the driveway for years. Basically a cheaper, heavier Clio.

They're perfectly fine, and very reasonable.

(I only found out last year it is pronounced Dachia).

They’re getting quite popular with people I work with. I heard they come with one of those old fashioned bicycle spanner’s, in case you need to make any adjustments 👀🤣

Wife has had two with no issues (both from new so don’t know how well they age). They’re basic but for the money you can’t fault them.

My mate has just got rid of his after a faultless £192k miles.

Tried to persuade the Mrs to get one but she insisted on a fiat 500.
