Boohoo have bought Debenhams but are still closing all of their stores :(

55 million just for the brand, seems a lot unless remaining stock was included

Big problem for the quadrant now

There's real value in brands....it's why Ashley bought up so many for sports direct

ASOS I think, is talking of buying up all Green's brands from Arcadia. So bye bye Burtons/Top Shop etc stores too.

High street and shopping centres need a radical change. It'll be forced on them earlier than otherwise now anyway.

ASOS are only thinking of taking some of the brands, I think a Chinese company called Shein are also interested, but looks like it'll all go on line.Mrs J2J works for Arcadia, she reckons she'll be out of a job within the week, along with 13000 others, not looking good. Debenhams gone online, another 12000 jobs down the shitter

Said it before on this one I wouldn't be surprised to see Primark take it on

Although there are reports suggesting that their refusal to go online is putting some big pressure on them as a brand as you would expect

Primark must be favourites, its a big store, the property owners could always split it into 4 or 5 separate units but they have to find 5 companies then, if Ashley bought it he would put a gym on the second floor

Fair comment just seemed to me as if they would be a likely front runner

Difficult to see anyone else wanting it although when we are back in the Premier League it could be a Swansea City megastore

Really sorry to hear that A. I hope she's ok and finds something she likes. Awful times for retail now, or any business caught in the crossfire.

I'd be surprised if they don't try and expand the online market using the familiarity of the name to the instore customers too. There's probably a lot af customer data involved in the deal? That does cost money.

I heard a rumour a while ago that Matalan was interested in taking over that space in the quadrant and keeping the brands in place. Pretty much like what Sainsbury was doing with Argos or what Matalan do in their larger stores.
