• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

Cardiff pubs them back in the 90’s. For the younger PT lot anyway. Older heads used the Viv.

Can’t help with who your mate was though 🤣
Somerset Arms had a cricket team back in the day, played for Ynystawe against them and remember going back to the pub after the game. Walls full of bluturd tat photos.
Is it still a dump?

It was closed last time I went to go in there, think it was being refurbished or something.

Do you know or did you know Gwev [spelling] at Ynystawe he was on the committee or chairman even, he did the heating/plumbing for the new building etc.

Is that the bigish pub after the bike shop Taibach side got a car park, opposite Chemist ?
I think the owner of the Buck got it now or did have it

Hhappy

Happy days indeed, you had to be there to understand, how good it was. The music, the clubs, and everyone seemed that little bit happier, even though we didnt have much money. Rose tinted glasses, nah! not for me, just better days.🙂👍
Maybe the pumped up body building steriod users , look at me I am a gym legend does not help .
Talk or look to me in the wrong way , hey who you looking at mate , fancy a fight .

Did kick off in The Rank on a few occasions , no big deal to me and walked away from trouble .

Now very rarely visit Wind Street on a night out , too old and not their demograph customer base .

No Sign Bar is still going though , big tick there .

Thinking of it, why I liked Shades,, I am sure I was banned from Barons, Mayfair/Ritzy Harpers/Liberty at one stage..

It seemed my main hobby in my 20s was punching bouncers. :)

Not that I was any good at it mind, just bloody drunk. I may as well have slapped them across the face with a handkerchief.

Last time I went to town on the razz, was in 1991 for my stag do. Martha's and Harpers etc was still there.
Not saying there was no trouble back in the day, but I can honestly say, I hardly ever saw any, not that I was looking for it mind. Did see one guy being helped down the whole flight of stairs in the Valbonne by the bouncers, which I thought was good of them.😉👍

Harpers was my go to venue, amongst others, there was a place upstairs for VIPs etc, can you recall, think it was called The grape vine?

Where was Shades? The Valbonne used to be next to City Tavern? I remember it but don’t think we liked it. My missus says her and 3 mates tried to get in one night but one of them came dressed in her bridesmaid dress to try and look older.

It isn’t/wasn’t.
what was the pub opposite and slightly left of Mount Motors [not JT's] then there's a chemist just to the left of it, Im sure the brick building was once a doctors surgery and then turned into a pub called the same.
