As we reported yesterday, Southampton are on the verge of appointing Russell Martin at St Mary’s Stadium and we are now told that Barnsley’s Michael Duff will be not long after confirmed as his replacement here in SA1. With Martin’s compensation package with the Saints now agreed and awaiting...

I wonder how long this 'closing in' and 'on the verge' will last in this case? ;)

In his first interview with Barnsley he said he's a big believer in proceses.... Fuck my eyes

With this “content creator” culture we now find ourselves in in sure most managers just all do the same YouTube course and learn the spiel to get themselves a job and then it’s a flip of a coin whether it works out at said club or not 😂

According to Barnsley insiders, it's official.

Here is the full conversation from their fan forum:

Winged Avenger: According to my shelf stacking mate in Lidl it's official, he's gone (to Swansea).

Archey: Certainly one of the more reputable sources I've heard it from.

BreweryStander: The Pot Man in my local is suggesting the same. Quite why a Pot Man in the Huddersfield area would be in the know about the Reds puzzles me.

KamikazeCo-Pilot: Is he a regular pot man or a flowerpot man?

Wayne: According to my uncles great grandad's budgie he (Duff) is gone (to Swansea).

Ronnie: Was he ever here?

BreweryStander: Last I heard he was enjoying a drink in Swansea trying to appear incognito according to a Welsh potman who's distantly related to the potman in Huddersfield.

Stahlrost: For 27.3 likes I'll tell you which Lidl it was.

Skinner: Theres more than one ???

Of course unlike Southampton we will pay the asking amount for Duff without any fuss.

The master plan is to wait until we're relegated to League one so then we pay a lower rate.

It’s neck and neck in a two horse race, still. Says the leafy lanes of Sth Gower.

MD still nicking it from CD, a proper ‘Wow’ factor by all accounts.

Though with doubts on the south coast’s dwindling appetitive for RM casting a shadow on the Comp equation, CD could well swing it, still.

It’s a shame some on SM have written off CD, saying he turned us down. Incorrect, as per with Schumacher. With the latter it was us who chose better options.

And here’s the thing. Our ownership group is playing a blinder right now.

Should be noted that Davies hasn’t actually been announced officially part of Spurs backroom team as of yet.

Brendan Rogers was nothing but a king of spiel when he came here with nothing to back up his big talk, let's not forget.

So what is going on here? Swans put the brakes on again Tuesday while we sort our situation out I’m guessing?

From the above posts from botn maybe still deciding over Duff and Davies?

Playing a blinder by (still) failing to clean up the mess they have caused?

Strange times. There has to be a stumbling block for this to be dragging on this long.

I’m not so sure, I think it’s just a case of making sure the Russ deal is completed to Southampton before we announce Duff.

People can take the p*ss about the “itk” stuff and that’s all part of the fun, but I think, from where it was coming from, that the deal was definitely expected to be done Monday or Tuesday but with both sides playing hardball there’s been delay after delay. Surely can’t be much longer.
