"Shoaib Bashir, the 20-year-old Somerset offspinner with 10 wickets in his first-class career, has been named in England's 16-man squad to tour India for a five-match Test series in early 2024."

"He is one of three uncapped players included along with left-arm spinner Tom Hartley and fast bowler Gus Atkinson, who have both represented England in limited-overs cricket."

Fair play to Stokes for making himself available to tour but I think we've seen the best of him due to his injury problems over the last 18 months, shame really his knees have cost him another 100 or so Test wickets at least...

India is one hell of a place to take two uncapped spinners. One with hardly any first class experience.

Does nobody want to watch England, can't be arsed to check but I'm sure I hadn't heard of half the venues when I heard them announced, was it no Bombay, Calcutta, Madras, Bangalore, Delhi etc.

No TV deal in place for this. As things stand the series isn’t being shown on U.K. TV.

Test cricket isn't sexy enough anymore.

I think it’s more to do with the BCCI trying to screw every penny out of broadcasters. Same thing happened last time England toured India. C4 stepped in last minute and showed the series in the end. I’d imagine someone will pick it up.

Taking Jimmy ffs. Thought they were meant to plan for the Ashes?

Live on TNT sport. Along with all other international cricket in India for the next four years. Tidy.

All of India's international cricket for four years?
Actually five years.

“A spokesperson from TNT confirmed to Press Association that a deal had been agreed as part of a five-year contract which gives the broadcaster, formerly known as BT Sport, exclusive rights to all of India's home series. England are scheduled to return to India early in 2025 for a white-ball tour.”

Outstanding business that! I'll be on it like a car bonnet 💪💥

TNT now have the rights to international cricket played in India, Australia, New Zealand and the West Indies.

Dates for the five Tests. I shall be tactically assigning a few work from home days.

I’ll miss the last test on account on being on holiday in Jamaica. I reckon I’ll cope.
