I love the way that some of the "logic" is Russia having a low level of Covid infections

Then the talk of fans attending so that everyone can ramp that figure up quite nicely.

Vaccine or not the only logical thing with this tournament is if it is going to be played it has to be behind closed doors surely? The thought of any number of fans travelling across Europe as soon as next summer just seems madness.

The issue is the whole tournament has been built on that model.

For example, Hosts who qualified were put in groups that made sure they played at home.

Anything different should require a re-drawing of the groups.

I wouldn’t believe the Russians infection rates in the same way as I don’t believe the Wuhan infection rates. A couple of hundred thousand football fans flying to Russia, touring round the country could see infection rates soar to astronomical levels.

The sensible options would be to either play it along the current lines, but behind closed doors with strict testing and infection control regimes, or to move it Germany, Spain or the U.K. where they have decent stadia and again play it behind closed doors. There’s plenty of decent grounds, there’d be no need for flights etc buses and bubbles could be maintained a lot easier.

Absolute horsecr?P. Russia WC 2018 was excellent. Why would you nominate holding it in a country like Spain or UK when we have to lock our populations up every 2mins to cope with this virus?? Putin has the ability to put Co vid on hold for a month. This man can fight bears FFS!

It seems pretty sensible to have it in one country rather than having teams flying all over the continent - which was a crap idea anyway. I'm not sure I can see fans being allowed to travel for the matches though.
