Not quite sure what the point of that video is. Neither of those angles were the ref's, or linesman's, angle. And yet the ref pointed to the spot straight away. Sterling has one thought in his mind (every time he gets in the box actually), and that is to look for the slightest touch from a defender in order to go down - a touch that wouldn't make you fall over if it happened in a supermarket. Even better if he can initiate the contact himself. In fairness, his appeal to penalty ratio is pretty poor - because he does it all the damn time.

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be an appetite to fix it. You have pundits like Lee Dixon saying "I don't care", Roy Keane saying "it was harsh", Gareth Southgate saying "I'd understand if people said it was soft", yet no-one calling it what it was - a plain and simple dive. Cheating, if you will.

And before we get on our moral high horse - I give you Ryan Manning v Forest in the cup (dive), Gareth Bale v Turkey (dive), Andre Ayew (pretty much all the time, dive), etc etc. And that's just recently.

I only hope that, after the England/Sterling "love-in" this summer, fans of other PL clubs (if they're back in) give him the stick he deserves when he does it against their club.

England vs Denmark up next.. I think England will do it unfortunately.

I've already seen people with England tops on in and around Swansea.. and I'm shocked and appalled by Welsh people willing England on to win the f*cking thing.. these people need sectioning

They might actually be english skip.

I’ve recently been doing some work in a public facing role and have been very surprised by how many English people had moved in to the area, it was much higher than I’d ever imagined. Can’t say I blame them to be honest, we don’t have the arts, theatre etc if you like that type of thing, but we have stunning beauty, cheaper houses and a good quality of life.

See if she’d just said “don’t worry, your cat is coming home” it would have been amusing. Twatter just allows the brain dead to embarrass themselves.

That's the reason why I don't and never will use that or facefuck monny, see what I did there 😉

The Final is going to be a hell of a test for the Italian players, emotionally and physically.
They are going to have 60,000 people baying against them the whole game. I hope the ref isn't going to be a homer.
The way to beat England is a high press and to hussle them.on the ball, they'll make mistakes in midfield and defence, not to mention Pickford, if pressurised. It takes a hugh physical toll to keep that up, however.
I wonder if Chellini will get an early "welcome to the game" reducer on Sterling? Would love to see it if he could get away with it. High up the field, of course.

I think the point is, wouldn't VAR have had those views or very similar? And isn't the point of VAR in situations like this to recommend to the ref that he has a look at what they have seen to give him the opportunity to review his original decision? To me it looks pretty conclusive that Sterling was already on his way before there was any possibility of contact.

Yes, VAR would have had multiple views, including those two. We saw all those angles on the night and it was obvious then that it wasn't a penalty. Unfortunately, the ref gave it based on his view of the incident - which wasn't one of the two shown. Then it becomes a question of whether it was a "clear and obvious error" by the ref. Which it was to any normal football watcher.

Fair play, 91 pages and you haven't been in it for nearly 2 weeks

We’ll have a lot of fun singing “football’s gone to Rome’ though.

This is big. The balance of power is in..the balance.

Getting nervous now. Not only the trip out there tomorrow but reading on here they may be a number of English around at game time. I just want the Italians to win the damn thing and then I can enjoy the rest of our stay. It would have been great if Wales, not England had been in the Final instead, after all you got pretty close at the last tournament.

Not sure what to do when arriving tomorrow. Don't have a lot of time between arriving and the start of game. Thought about a walk along the beach towards Blackpill like before or on to the Mumbles. Not sure about watching anything in a bar, the whole reason to go to Wales was to get away from things.

Should have gone to Scotland. They’ll all be decked out in Eyetie kit.

Overheard in a London shop a couple of days ago :

"That'll be £39.99 then Mr Sterling, and how would you like to pay?"

"Contactless please"

"Yes, of course you would, silly me!"

Danny Mills on BBC this morning discussing Italy's mastery of "dark arts" of football completely ignoring the questionable penalty that got them to the final.

I don't really care if they win, but it would be funny to see them lose in a similar fashion to how they got into the final.
