• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

Cooking, one of my passions and a great stress reliever. Most Friday and Saturday nights are spent in the kitchen, a few drinks, reconnecting ourselves after a busy week, and cooking up a feast. It’s chicken and leek cobbler tonight from The Hairy Bikers.

We're getting our kitchen refitted in May and cannot wait.

If you're looking for a classy starter for a dinner party:
Caramelised goats cheese and pear salad.
Ingredients (for 4) -
A roll of goats cheese
Serrano ham, 2 slices, cut up small
One large pear
Big bag of rocket leaves
Pine nuts, sultanas, olive oil, lemon juice to dress

Put the rocket in a bowl, season lightly and scatter oil and lemon over, mix gently.
Slice the goats cheese into rounds, brush each with oil and scatter a bit of sugar on top of each to be caramelised.

Peel the pear, cut off small slices and put on small dish for microwave.
Distribute the rocket over four plates, scatter over ham, pine nuts and sultanas.
Caramelise the goats cheese rounds, I use blowtorch, a very hot grill might work.
Zap pear in microwave for 30 seconds.
Put some cheese rounds and warm pear slices on top of each salad and serve up.

I previously resisted all pressure to hang a TV in ours. I’m glad I persisted as it means we talk and communicate, this is even more important now that it’s just the two of us.

That's what we are hoping to achieve with ours. I really want a central part of the house where can all sit and enjoy each others company.

Our TV habits are very different which often means we're sitting in different parts of the home most of the time.

Someone bought me their Perfect Pies book years ago. Don't make it as much these days as I'm trying to lose weight rather than put it on, but their steak and ale pie from that book is one of my absolute favourite meals to make and eat.

Them and Rick Stein are my favourite chef personalities.

I reckon we should all have an end of season get together around your pool 😉

The cobbler was outstanding. Only ever had a sweet one before, my Nan used to make peach and raspberry cobbler back in the day. First time having a savoury version. Washed down with a nice Chablis.

I made a lovely far-right leek and potato soup the other night.

I've given out my Burmese pork curry recipe before, it's a winner so if anyone wants it shout out
