• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

I've spent far too long on Planet Swans and forgot that the autists on the Maiden forum don't necessarily appreciate stiff debate

Ive just got myself banned from the forum and likely kicked out of their fan club too šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ˜‚

I put forward the suggestion that Dickinson sounds awful these days

Carnage.

Ooooo, I like it already. The galloping bass is back :D

Another ban incoming I think... The hobbits on the Maiden forum are on patrol waiting for the album to leak

So I started a thread...

"IT HAS LEAKED!!"

Is it me or are the vocals really low in the mix on the new song?

No it's not just you. They don't want to spend the time needed in the studio to release a polished product so chuck it down in two weeks and claim they were going for a 'live feel'

The other tracks have finally leaked onto YouTube. They sound awful though so I'm gonna wait until Friday and hope it's just a shitty quality upload

So my opinion has gone from "what is this shite!?" to "f*ck me this is good" between the 1st and 5th listen. Maiden has never been an easy listening band but this takes that to another level

Enjoyed this album on first listen, caught the end of Bruce chatting on PlanetRock yesterday I’m sure he mentioned UK dates, but can’t see anything online other than Download next year.

I think he was talking about his ā€œAn Evening With Bruce Dickinsonā€ tour. Was expecting a bit more from the Planet Rock show. Like what the songs were about. Instead got Steve Harris saying stuff like, ā€œSome people will moan about the length of this song, but I think it’s the right lengthā€ for The Parchment. Thanks for that wonderful insight…. At over 12.5 minutes, it did sound a bit monotonous on the first listen. Time will tell on that one. Not many long songs stand the test of time, but if they do, they are pretty epic.

Still haven’t had a chance to listen to the whole album. Like Blaze, it takes me a number of listens to get into new stuff. Writing on the wall has definitely grown on me now. Like the opening (title track) on first listen. But sometimes the stuff I like straight away, I get bored of quickly.

From what I’ve heard so far, Bruce’s voice sounds strained on some songs and good on others. Maybe it’s some of the notes he struggles with these days. As ECB said, the vocals are a bit low in the mix.
