• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

At the moment Franco lacks that athletic level the prem requires and does lack composure when the game is frantic and high paced. As a first season though in the efl, you can see him improving with experience and refining his game. No better ball winner at this level and quite disciplined considering the level of physicality in his game. One for the future no doubt.
Agree. He has had to build up his level, fitness wise, as he looked like he couldn't get through 90 minutes. Yes he puts alot of energy into his play, but has worked on this. My biggest criticism would be he needs to improve on his passing and finishing. Get that right and he will go onto greater things. Or hopefully with us. We do need to start to be smarter though as a club and start having a really good bench. Fulton is not the answer, Allen will retire soon. We need more depth but quality.

Comparing Franco to Fulton is like comparing a Rolls Royce to a Skoda from 40 years ago, but your post is spot on.
If Sheehan gets the role. I guarantee Fulton will see his contract out. The guy has always been a player who liked a yellow and that crazy red card in the final, few years ago. Fulton is a player who doesn't bring anything to the team. Sadly he won't be going anytime soon.

Won't get a contract like the one he has here anywhere else so he'll stay regardless, unless he is bought out.

I have some sympathy for him regarding that red card in the play off final. It was a sliding challenge and his foot skidded up off the top of the ball making the challenge a lot higher than he had intended.

It doesn't excuse his complete reversion from anything resembling a footballer in recent years, but I have often wondered if that had a long lasting psychological impact on him

It's had a psychological effect on me, can't stand the toe rag, been stealing a living from this club for years, and we still can't get rid of him.

Odd cos i remember the sending off as completely different where he was watching the ball run out of play and barged a Brentford player out of the way to stop him getting to it.
No, I think it was as Baka said and he also got his foot caught in the back of the Hounslow players tog. It looked really bad (I was right in line with it and thought, ‘Jesus, that’s red’), but slowed down it was pretty unlucky. The ref that day was dying to give them everything…not that we deserved any better with the whole shithouse affair.

This is the correct recollection of the red card incident.

I was on the lower tier that day and quite close to the incident and that has always been exactly my interpretation too.

Before that red card Fulton was always a dogged if ungifted footballer, he would show flashes of brilliance with intricate one touch interplay with other players that always hinted that he could be something more... but ever since that red card he was never the same again.

He did have a purple patch after Martin tried to sell him off and he played himself into a new contract, but that aside he always flattered to deceive and I always wondered how much that red card played a part in that.

He will stay yes. But it will be his last contract with us. He will be 32 next year and although we have had players older, Fulton wages are not worth it.

I agree. He has not been anywhere near what he once was. He was never a baller, but he contributed much more, and played to our style. I would have to go back and rewatch that red. At the time I thought it was reckless. He has had patches but only brings a sought defensive option now.

We paid peanuts for Fulton. Since he signed many years ago, we have wasted millions of pounds on awful players, plus wages, who we have since moved on at a massive loss. Some are still hanging around (Pedersen, Tjoe-A-On). He's not the best, but definitely not the worst, by far. Think on...

TJoe is an odd one. I thought he played good when he wa given rare chance with us. Then his performance was bad, in his last match with us. Go figure if he is not up to it. Very odd signing. The Pederson one confuses me too. Not the bringing him in, as thought when he was called up he was alright. But why would Coleman and Co pay out the money for him. I'm confident we won't end up with these crazy signing again. Add Christie to that list.
