What is the club record for consecutive defeats? This is as good a chance as we will have of seeing records broken this season.

Longest losing streak (League): 9 matches, 26 January 1991 to 19 March 1991

We've still got a long way to go to equal that one.

We had terrible run in our 1980/81 promotion year under Tosh.

After we drew 3-3 at Cardiff on 27/12/1980, we lost every match until 28/02/1981. This included 5 straight league defeats, and a 5-0 home defeat to Middlesboro in the FA Cup.

I remember thinking that was that then, especially as scum had come back from 1-3, and then we picked up form to finish strongly. Would have been play offs these days and that blip might have cost us.

I particularly remember feeling very despondent after we had been outclassed by West Ham at the Vetch 3-1 and Trevor Brooking scored just after the North Bank informed him he was a homosexual. To be honest, should it have been true, and obviously I had no reason to doubt the NB’s wisdom, I was a bit surprised he didn’t already know.

Always good to have targets though eh.

My lasting recollection of that run in (apart from Preston away obviously) was a home 2-2 draw against Luton. Its all a bit of a blur now but iirc we were 2-0 up, they got back to 2-2 and the crunch was they had a very late goal disallowed. I hope at least some of that is true and some of my memory still works!

Yes, Luton, it is true. We seemed to be cruising at half time and then Ricky Hill decided to try and mangle us in an orange tidal wave. They could have scored about ten in the second half from my memory. Luckily I had also visited a few of Wind Street's old finest beforehand to calm my nerves, but we were all still cacking it. I kept saying, just give us our day at Preston, as we'd already planned it all at half time.

North Bank was rammed that night, I remember doing a balancing act on the corrugated sheets at the back trying to get a view. And yer right Monny, we had also booked our Preston trip beforehand so nerves were shot to shit. Ricky Hill tormented us that game.

Thanks guys, relieved to know that my recollections of a game 40 years ago are accurate. 😁

BTW, did anyone else go to the Derby away game during that run in? That was a crucial win.

Watford 1-0 up. We've got next to no chance of catching them so probably good for them to keep Reading below us.

I've just had an epiphany, we're going to the last day at Watford to determine our fate.. I need to lay off the disco biscuits though

We’ll need to win every game to do that. Big ask... we’ll probably screw up against Wycombe 🙈

and a 5-0 home defeat to Middlesboro in the FA Cup. [/quote said:
We should have won that game, peed down, the Boro fans, some wearing red waterproofs, invaded the North Bank before being escorted past the East and into the childrens enclosure where they had a red and white balloon party

Them were the days lol

How weird is wanting scumshite to win going to be? I am still thinking a draw will do so I don’t have to, but really we want the t*ats to win. They probably won’t of course because they always mess everything up, guaranteed. Come on Mick McCarthy, do the biz for Swansea, we’ll shout hoof, hoof, hoof....etc

I expect them to lose, poorly, but maybe not the worst thing ever as we don’t really want to coast half arsed into tough play off games.

It’s possible Skip. It’s not probable. I think we’ll have to win the lot. If it happens, the West London Worldbeaters will also have a say, as they will probably have to beat Watty to open the door.
