• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

Been a cracking week this week. My review - other opinions are available.

Monday - Swansea

Creeper - didn’t see ‘em.

The Cult - they were fine. Didn’t blow the house down and a bit all over the place at times. 6/10.

Alice - didn’t disappoint. Great songs,great show. A showman with an excellent band. He’s 74 mun. 9/10.

Wednesday- Cardiff.

Europe - the highlight of the week. Massively underrated band and they were superb. 10/10.

Foreigner - almost a tribute band now but wall to wall hits and Kelly Hansen is an excellent frontman. Really enjoyed. 8/10

Whitesnake - i admit to being a bit distracted for large chunks of their set but you know what you’re getting and I think David Coverdale is calling it a day at the right time. Great songs though. 7/10.

It’s been a good week.

I’m glad you enjoyed and went the full hog to change your image for these gigs too.
Alice Cuder. 🤘🏻

I am old enough to remember flash bulbs on cameras / phones going off at special parts of a performance surely that must have been more off putting to the artist .

Thought the camera filming by the audience at the Alice Cooper show was not a distraction to me.

I cringe when I see pics of gigs and the place is lit with phone screens. Live the moment and be respectful to the band. Believe me artists get despondent when they see it as it feels like no one is paying attention.

It's the modern world i guess Eb, especially for the younger generation. Same at the football, same whenever there is any sort of public order incident. Glad they weren't around in my youth that's for sure.

There is a video on youtube where Alex Lifeson from Rush gets pissed off with a fan who is holding a phone right in front of him with the torchlight and flash on constant as he is playing. You can hear him yelling 'stop, just please stop'.

To be fair a lot of the gigs I go to people do take the odd pic / video, but never stand there all night filming the whole thing which is very odd indeed. Enjoy the moment and not your phone.

I guess at a small venue it would be pretty off putting to the artist. Big venue you would hardly notice as a performer.

Paul Merton and Improv chums last night

Wedding Present Friday night - the skill will be coming back from Kerdiff on the choo choo avoiding all the Sheeran fans

I saw them many many years ago. Sad news about that fella from Fatima Mansions / Microdisney wasn't it?

Tomorrow night on Marc Riley, one of my favourite bands are in session - Beak (Geoff barrow from Portishead's band with Robert Plan't bass player).

Yes - very sad news about that. Saw Microdisney live circa 1986/7 - he was very pissed off that the audience weren't responsive so cut the gig after about 30 mins. :? Their bass player was a prolific NME contributor at the time too.

I'll give that band a listen as I get Marc Riley's show as a podcast :thumbsup_tone1: - thanks for the recommendation

I should be going to see Liam Gallagher in Knebworth this Saturday too - but can't make it anymore. If anyone knows anyone who would like a ticket then send me a pm. I'd accept any reasonable offer around £60 - face value is £75

Ah Beak bailed out in the end due to 'unforeseen circumstances'. You might like them though, they have a Can vibe to them
