Hourihane and Woodman.

I hope if we go up whatever the budget we manage it prudently and if that means relegation and a more sustainable club then so be it. It's painful but the PL money can make a huge difference and we have seen how much it can hurt dropping out with average players on PL wages that are very difficult to shift on for anything other than bargain basement prices.

Absolutely. It's why I only suggested a 1-year offer to Andre if Cooper wants to keep him. As others have suggested, I imagine he's off to another country and may already have it arranged.

Considering the way they have run the club since relegation, I'd be shocked if the owners did anything other than what you've suggested.

A couple of high quality loans like Guehi (or Gylfi or De Guzman for historic examples) and a few permanent signings, hopefully relatively young players with potential who are not likely to see their value drop with relegation. On sensible wages of course.

Unfortunately I think your spot on.

The last time we went up we struck it lucky by having a team that was surprisingly comfortable at Premier league standard, let's not forget that the Championship back then was miles ahead in terms of quality than it is now.

Anyway, enjoy the ride aye 👍

Absolutely, the amount of money wasted on substandard players and wages was truly eye-watering.

You could say for every pound spent two were wasted

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but hopefully, if we reach the "promised land" again, lessons will have been learned.

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger aye 💪

I think Cooper will spend wisely on quality youngsters if we can fend off any interested clubs. I would never keep Ayew as he is struggling at this level on times let alone the prem. CH will be available as he has been replaced by a youngster if we can get him on the cheap possibly but he will have to do a lot more to convince me. MGW and Guehi would be the sort of signings i would go for which is stating the obvious but so far Coopers signings have been stella.

Liquid piss that rots your brain and makes you fart?

That’s a bit harsh, even on Gyokeres

MGW would be a great signing if we pulled it off, although I think they’d ask for a figure about 10-15M due to his age, English and contract length, same with Woodman I would say he would cost up to 10M because the season he’s had so far and again English and he signed a new deal with Newcastle.

Problem with going up and spending "only" £20m or so is that we'd have to tolerate a season long whinge fest about "asset stripping", "Where's the money gone?" and "Yanks lacking ambition" if we struggle. You''re right though. We need to keep a better grip on finances if/when we're lucky enough to make a return. Operate more along the lines we did from 2004-2014 as opposed to whatever the hell it was we tried to do for the last three seasons in the Prem.

I suspect we'd be relying heavily on Cooper and Scott for bargain hunting, with the occasional larger fee involved. Wouldn't rule out permanent moves for either Guehi or MGW as marquee signings. Players of quality that should at least retain their value.

Gobsmacked by criticism (even slight) of Hourihane. The mind boggles.

Fucking crap they both are. No dog in them.
Shit for their PL sides and then come down to this mediocre crazy league thinking they are special.

They don't care

Bit harsh on Woodman today, but i know where you are coming from.

Scorer of great goals? Sure. Great player? Not sure. Good player, yes. We have a team full of good players.
