• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

Bloody hell Eb.. fresh air and ventilation is key to your immune system to kick in and fight.. needs reporting that IMO

You are right, but for the wrong reasons (if that makes sense).

Anyway get well soon. We are all behind you.

What you on about Prof, are you saying your immune system doesn't play it's part in the recovery of cancer patients

Keep the updates coming feller. We are all rooting for you, as you know, .......and when I mean rooting, it's not in the Aussie way of 'rooting', which of course means shagging...

The immune system is important both in the cause (aetiology) and resolution of cancers. Fresh air, although a general benefit (psychological more than physical) does not boost immunity. In fact over stimulation of immunity is a risk factor for lymphoma. One of the few herbal 'immune boosters' that actually has an effect (albeit mild) is echinacea. Taking echinacea increases the risk of lymphoma (again very slightly).

Good normal diet with plenty of fruit and veg (not some stupid low carb high protein nonsense), normal exercise, sleep, moderation in drinking and not smoking are all you can do. Over exercise is detrimental to immunity.

The biggest drivers of cancer are cell damage (failure to repair or kill damages cells) which can have links to smoking, poor diet, exposure to teratogenic agents (like asbestos, particulate pollution) and general poor health including obesity. Genetics is probably number 2 and infections at 3-as yet poorly understood.
