Ebo said:Well I’ve had an eventful couple of weeks. My illness was getting worse culminating with me collapsing last Wednesday and getting rushed to hospital. I was lucky to get a bed and was given IV fluids, anti sickness meds, painkillers and god knows what.
Thursday morning at 1am I was wheeled down for a CT scan on my lower abdomen. Surgeon said next morning that they could see an abnormality between my gullet and stomach so was booked in later that day fit a CT scan on my chest. They found something there so Friday I had an endoscopy and biopsy. There is a narrowing of my food pipe which we knew plus a small mass between gullet and stomach.
I’ve been told since Sunday I’m fit to go home yet I can only eat soft foods and the prescription protein shakes, walk a few yards and feel out of sorts. (They need the beds don’t they). I seem to get a different surgical team every morning which adds to the confusion.
I won’t get results until they meet Thursday to decide if I need surgery or a simple procedure for my foodpipe, a stent was mentioned. I’ll be called for a face to face consultation to see what / if treatment is needed for the mass they found. It could be nothing or something.
I’m going home tomorrow and staying with my sister for a while. I’m still in a bit of pain so gobbling morphine and codeine every night due to damaged back and chest muscles which stop me sleeping. I’ll be an out patient for now and awaiting next steps.
Be safe everyone. Things can change in life in an eye blink.
Update: Upper GI clinical team visited and said I am not going home despite what the dr says. They said if I’m here in hospital things will move much faster.
Ebo said:Well upper GI clinical nurse team has just been in and want to keep me in for the rest of the week. Works out well as the meeting about my scans and endoscopy/ biopsy is Thursday so I’m not yanked out then back in as an outpatient.
With a bit of luck I’ll have an operation or procedure next week.
Thank you for all your best wishes, they are very much appreciated. I’ll battle hard as I can whatever it is I have.
