I don’t agree with people who say Vipotnik isn’t good enough for us. His goal scoring numbers are miraculous when you consider how bad we’ve been in attack for the first 3rd of the season. His all round game tends to be what people point to but he is often an important part of our build up play, holding the ball up well or providing that outlet for a straight central ball. His touch is underrated too, I’ve seen him receive a few wild and uncontrolled passes this season and accurately distribute the ball with a single touch. Personally I think there’s more to him than just a powerful shot.

A lot of people put a lot of effort into criticising him last season and old habits are dying hard.

His all round game is decent, as in fact it was last season too. He's scoring more goals, but he's also clearly a lot more confident. That's a massive thing for a forward.

Most of his goals have come from inside the area as well, so he's not living up to the "all he can do is shoot" idea that some have moved onto either.

Our players are not perfect in every aspect of their play.
If they were they'd be wearing the white of Real Madrid and not Swansea City.
If their strengths outweigh their weaknesses and they give their all, that's about all we can ask.

I agree with that, some people do struggle with it, but the flipside to that argument is that they have to be demonstrably wrong before you can level that at them.

The flipside to the Vip debate is that he's not quite a 1 in 2 striker, so there are more games where he doesn't have an impact than ones he does. He also tends to get his goals in streaks/gluts - check the link below. So you could reasonably argue he's only impacting around a third of the games really.

Posted not to prove I'm "right" or anyone else "wrong", but just to point out that if we're all being perfectly honest, the jury is probably still out.

By the way, I'd love nothing more than for him to carry on with what appears to be the start of one of his streaks at the moment, because that will mean we'll have had a bloody good Christmas period. Fingers crossed on that.
