• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

If you could bring back one (or more) player(s)...

It's brilliant that Ash and Leon are nailed on with everyone. Leon should have played for England no question, but for me it wasn't like Ash was world class, not even particularly quick, but what a fckn leader of a team he was.
Always in the right place at the right time, and a cool head to go with it. Nothing phased Ash.

There seems general agreement on a handful of names, and I must go along with Ashley, Leon and Michu/Gylfi. But when is somebody going to point out how ineffective our current keeper is. When is he going to save more than one shot per game, when is he going to dominate his box in the air, when is he going to consistently show us his much vaunted distribution ?????? Come back Fabianski, however old you are.

Ash Williams. Probably could do a job still.
Of the old Division 1 side would go for Robbie, though a thoroughbred centre forward like Bob Latchford would not go amiss either.

I have a hope that the "legends" who are still involved in the Club would be able to offer their priceless views to Coleman: Leon, Curt, Trundle.

Johnny De Guzman

Despite the temptation to go for one of the other names like Leon, Wilf or Michu, if there's a player type that we badly need the most it's someone like JdG. Someone to drive the play forward at pace, break the lines and unsettle opposing defences before they've had the chance to get set. The "Anti Grimes" so to speak.

He was superb at that, and even now doesn't get the respect he deserves.

We havent had anything close to that for years, Bersant Celina was the last player we had who was anything close to that and he hardly lit the world alight. Cullen is trying to adapt to the role but I am not 100% sold on it. We are, and have been, screaming out for an attacking midfielder for years.

Instead of wasting millions on strikers and then selling/loaning them, maybe recruit a decent attacking mid to sit between the lines and provide service. Could have prime Wilf or Scotland up top right now and they would struggle to get double digits

Only reason I wouldn't go for Leon is that Franco is at least competent in midfield, and that's as good as it gets through most of the moder day side. Would be daft to upgrade in exchange for basically any other position.

Bony V1.0 - I'll be astonished and overjoyed if we ever have a better striker than his first spell.

Gylfi - Got to have someone with a spark, and fuck all else in this team is going to take a decent set-piece. JdG unlucky to miss out in this role, as are Dyer and Sinclair (even Narsingh would be an incredible asset nowadays).

Williams - I was debating Rangel here, as I think we're marginally better at centre-half than we are at full back, but similarly, Ash is probably the best defender we had in the Premier League and a nailed on captain. I wouldn't mind a modern day Ben Davies either.

I'd put Paterson in the same category since, but otherwise I agree completely.

None of our forwards, be it Ronald, Eom, Vip, Bianchini or whoever are being well served by the way the team are being sent out. We desperately need to add pace and tempo to our play. Franco does his best, but he's just one man.

JdG is the most underrated player from our PL time.

As much as I loved the first Bony spell, I still think Bob Latchford was the best striker we have had. Just sad how far we have slipped. Even the poor teams of the mid-80s had some 'dog' even if they lacked ability. It's just so flat.
