It must be horrendous seeing and experiencing someone who shared so much of your life with you become like that.
I have seen many articles and news reports of music totally "awakening" individuals who up until the tunes/songs started were almost lifeless.

My grandfather has Alzheimer's and suspected lung cancer and he comes completely alive when playing 1950s music, hand clicking, feet stomping and he knows every word, track and the singer, he's in a bad way at the moment, but the music seems to switch him on

My mum, only 73 and doesn’t look too dissimilar to the lady in the video. Every time I see my mum I know it’s the same question ten times over of “where are you next week?” And each time I answer with the same patient answer of “don’t worry, I’ll be ok”.

My dad, only 75 and seeing his wife of 49 years slowly deteriorate. Through no fault of his own he can’t deal with it in a way that this chap seems to.

Much like your dad, Skip, my mum can recite songs of the 60’s and 70’s and yet she can’t remember what she had for breakfast. So, so cruel. Do the things that make him happy, Skip. I must try harder to do the same.

Don’t ask me to remember,
don’t try to make me understand.
Let me rest and know your with me,
kiss my cheek and hold my hand.

I’m confused beyond your concept,
I’m sad and sick and lost.
All I know is that I need you,
to be with me at all cost.

Do not lose your patience with me,
do not scold or curse or cry.
I can’t help the way I’m acting,
I can’t be different though I try.

Just remember that I need you,
the best of me is gone.
Please don’t fail to stand beside me,
love me ‘til my life is gone.

I carry these words with me everywhere I go.

My beloved dad had Alzheimer's and passed many years ago. I remember the day he didn't recognise my children anymore, but also that my mum made him fresh Welsh cakes every day and his eyes used to light up.

Just to let you all know, my grandfather got his results back from the doctor today, his cancer has spread all through his body, doctor said he's got a few months to a year left, and because of his Alzheimer's... treatment is not possible or advised, hopefully he'll make it to the march play off games, he's one of a few that has seen Wales at a World Cup, but it looks like it'll only be his one and only

Sorry to hear that Skip. I hope that the time he does have is the best it can be.

Sorry to hear that, Skip. Keep playing the music.

Just to let you know, my grandfather passed away early this morning, it's a bit sudden, but cancer is a b*stard.
