If Potter didn’t do his due diligence and had personal guarantees on transfer budgets that just highlights how poor he really is.

Article stinks of someone looking to stay relevant.

He’s managed big clubs since he left us and is currently an international manager. Hardly needs to talk about us to keep his name out there.

Due diligence will get you so far but some stuff you’ll only find out after the event re details of clauses in contracts etc.

He’s been sacked from his last two jobs and is currently in Sweden and the Brighton fans we pleased to see him leave at the end due to the borefest he served up week in week out.

Any manager going in to a new club will seek reassurances on transfer budgets and should be fully aware of players on big wages in a club that’s been relegated from the Premier League.

The mess he found shouldn’t have come as much of a surprise to him.

Clucus proved at Stoke that he wasn't a bad player and you can blame the dumb head coach we had at the time in selecting Clucus in almost every position apart from in goal.

Most premier league managers are sacked from their jobs.

Anyway, I’m not entering into another borefest with you. I see no reason for him to make stuff up.
Given he’s managed Chelsea and West Ham he hardly needs to talk about us to raise his profile.

Been sacked by both for being pretty shit and is now back in Sweden, it's fairly obvious why he's come out with this article.

Most managers are sacked .
From the Championship to League 2 managers are usually sacked for not doing well or poached by other clubs for being successful .
Occupational hazard with a good payout particular in the Premier League .

Just a guess Arteta is possibly the longest serving manager in the League.

All I seem to remember is him running 80 odd yards after scoring for Stoke against us to celebrate in front of the Swans supporters.
Given the abuse he got, if I were him, I'd have given it the full V's and bared my arse at us as well. Not his fault Messiah Jenkins is a twat. His performance against Arsenal the season we were relegated for a totally unexpected win should have been a main plank in leading to us staying up in the end.

Not that he was worth a quarter of what we paid, and everyone except Stoke knew it.

Strange one Potter. We had been close to him for a few seasons whilst he made his way at Ostersunds but it would take the perfect storm for him to become our manager - relegation finally made it a possibility. My recollection of his season was that the football was both exciting and excruciating in equal measure, some of the play through Celina was top class but the defending of balls in to the box from any kind of set piece was non-existent and usually ended with a goal against, even from throw ins. It was crazy stuff and relied on Mike VdH who had previously been deemed inadequate until he was all we had left. Potter was clearly cutting his teeth and naive about the challenges of the league and he was fully exposed in the transfer market where he had his pants pulled down too often. It was kind of fun though and much more enjoyable than the next couple of seasons.

Selling 4 centre halfs in the summer, being unable to pick Routledge due to his contract clause for half a season & having to make do with Baker-Richardson as backup striker didn't help!
Granted his goalkeeping selections affected our shambolic defence of set pieces but to me it was easily the best football we've played since relegation.
Ayew in that Potter side would have got us to the playoffs.

He mentioned the financial problems with us in an interview when he was doing well at Brighton, whether you rate him as a manager or not he's a decent bloke.

I'm sure he's a lovely fella.

Just don't mention his name to Lopetegui who was taking training at West Ham while Potter was negotiating his contract with one of the dildo brothers at the hammers.
