Is Vitor Matos the Right Fit for Swansea City? The Case for Patience

The success rate for managers with experience vs managers no experience seems to be largely the same. If Matos is going to be a success then the likelihood is that he will be one no matter how many games he's currently been in charge of. All the best coaches have to start somewhere, and it's not as if he's being plucked from Cradley Town's youth team.

Bottom line is I just want to be entertained. I could live with not being promoted as long as I'm not bored out of my skull every other Saturday. Getting back to the Prem would be great, but as long as the other criteria is met I could live without it.

Perfectly said. I was dropping off watching Sheehan team this season. Fans will come back if we are showing signs of some progress. And we build on that.

Or maybe they don't have calibre of players at his disposal. No excuses really for Matos. He will have one of the most in form strikers in VP. A excellent keeper in Vig. Solid defense and experience in Cabango and Burgess and an exciting midfield of Galbraith and Co. I am still one that believes we have a good squad and if we have more intent and better tactics we can push on.

Agreed but Hellberg would be a risk as well. Only option would be to get a championship manager. Maybe they felt there isn't one that matches the club's direction?

In fairness, I saw a Maritimo fan on Twitter say that they don’t have a problem creating chances but the strikers they have available aren’t finishing. Hopefully Vipotnik and Idah can do better if we start creating chances more.

Also from his point of view it can either boost his career or lessen his future chances.

If it is him that he has a massive job, to convince the team as well as fans.

Bewildered by some of the comments to this article, well balanced and reasoned. Sadly, i'm like a good number of "supporters" - I use this word with caution as those who boo and shout down a manager are far from this word. They can call themselves fans but I also question that too. Alan Sheehan deserved more from us all and if you look deeper at our recent games, the performances were far from "Dire".
