• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

To let supporters ( of every sport) into stadiums in a controlled way

To open up theaters in a controlled way

To let concerts go ahead in a controlled way ect...

Every individual has a responsibility to protect thier own elderly and vulnerable.

We have to get the economy kickstarted in a controlled way until a vaccine is readily available.

Just my opinion 🤷

If only things were so simple...nothing wrong with your sentiment but the virus does not care for our world it will just carry on replicating exponentially.

If only things were so simple....nothing wrong with your sentiment but If people could be relied upon to use common sense and behave in a controlled way, we wouldn't still be in this situation. Sadly, far too many can't.

Another problem is, a lot of places cease to be profitable working on a reduced capacity

What do you suggest we do when the hospitals reach capacity shortly after everything is opened back up as you wish?

Nah not for me. You won’t be seeing me in a pub, concert hall or The Liberty for a while, experiment on someone else.

If Cheap Trick were opening the new Swansea Arena tomorrow night - you'd be there - waving your used underwear like an excited schoolgirl. FACT.

We have to expect that it is not going away for a long time, if ever. At some point we have to begin to work on resuming society, around controlling it.

Eventually it will just be about relative risk management, like any other medical ailment.

A teacher at a local primary school has tested positive, our Grandson, plus a number of other 6 year olds, have been sent home and told to isolate for 14 days.

Good point.
The long term health of everyone and not just the elderly whom this virus really affects is gonna be the issue. Gotta be a case of all public buildings etc. placing signs saying ' enter at own risk ' before long.
We can't play hide and seek with this. Its bit like saying if there were to be a massive rise in car accidents then we'd all have to park our cars for a period. It's a case for me of the powers that
be having the cahoonas to protect the elderly/vulnerable and let the rest of the country get on. May sound harsh...but how else can any quality of life continue?

This virus is going nowhere, a credible vaccine might be 18 months away, the economy will be in ruins by then if we impose lockdown after lockdown, there is no ideal scenario.

There were the Nightingale hospitals all over the country that were hardly used back in May/June and now that there is sufficient medicine to stop the rise in deaths, yes, hospitals will be get very busy....but 'run over'? Don't think so.
