• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

After the failure to land any central midfielders despite months of frantic planning, it seems to me that Joe Allen needs to force himself up the pecking order above Fulton. He's our only hope in that position, but is he up to it in what could turn out to be his last season as a professional?

Sadly Allen is too lightweight and injury prone for the Championship. Great career no doubt !

We can but hope, but sadly Joe seems pretty ineffective these days. Great career but injury and time catching up with him. Perhaps he will have a 'last rage against the dying of the light' and have a few stormers. But then again..

Against Bournemouth putting him as furtherest forward of the 3 centre mids was painful as he just doesnt have the legs anymore, however as a holder id still have him in front of grimes and jay as he does tend to try and look forward with his passing. Unfortunately with the options we currently have i can only see cameos off the bench.

Rolled back the years again yesterday… showed both Grimes and Fulton how to play centre midfield yesterday.

Absolutely bossed the game.
Now that we’ve got our wingers, searching for a Joe/Leon-type midfielder should be top of the pops in the summer.

Joe was superb yesterday, the shift in momentum coincided with his substitution.

I had always felt that Ntcham had it in him to do the role that Joe does but it always depended on his mood if he was up for the physical battle or not. What we do need this summer is to find a true long term successor to Joe so that Grimes can focus more on forward play.

The second goal yesterday was made entirely by Joe, he read the inside pass and picked the pocket of the Sunderland player before carrying it forward and sending it out wide to Ronald. The pass to him wasn't the best at an awkward height, but a bit of that Brazilian magic ball control and bam 2-0.

Fulton would have never got in front of that Sunderland player to pinch the ball to set up Ronald for the second goal.

Agree with everything in this thread so far, but the problem is, how/where do we find a player as good as Joe that a) is happy to play at this level and b) we can afford?

Lifted the entire team yesterday. His interception then pass to Ronald was a thing of beauty. Captain-esque performance and has raised Grimes to another level just by being out ther.
Honourable mentions to the defence in particular Tymon, his cross for the first was almost impossible to defend against. Sunderland did exactly the same to get their goal.
Placheta was outstanding and is still leaning the game - his day will come I’m sure.
Great performance especially first half and that form if maintained will keep us up .

Look abroad. It’s the only place they can be found and cheaply

We can sign 4 players who wouldn't qualify for a work permit I think. Ronald is 1, not sure how many others we have??
