Massive Swans fan John Bruce from Briton Ferry has passed away today.

Sleep tight John.

Darren did he used to go to away games, slight build, balding a bit?

I used to travel on the official coaches to away games and used to chat to a bloke from the Ferry called John, he sits in the East Stand upper not far from me around seat 200. Really quiet bloke but hell of a nice fella.

My season is in the East Stand Upper, seat 192S. Next time I'm over for a match I'll give you a shout. All tbe Ferry boys used to sit a few seats along from me in the next block, I imagine John was one of them.

Yes that would probably be my father.

My father, John Bruce, sadly passed away on Tuesday, 9th of march after nearly a 3 year battle with pancreatic cancer, which in the end was in most of his body. He put up such a fight, with every single inch of his being, until he toke his final last breaths. He had his dieing wish to be at home and surrounded by me, my mother and sister.

He was such a massive Swansea fan, from the vetch days as a youngster, to a yearly season ticket holder... In fact I think he only missed 3 games before lock down due to ill health.

Thank you so much for this post. I had been sent it by a friend and it was so lovely to read.

RIP

Another Ferry legend, I didn't even know he was ill until xmas time, despite knowing him since i was a kid.

Had some fantastic away trips in the old Transit vans with him, including THAT Leyton Orient game, and Spurs in the old league cup. Bruce, Chick, Fatty Stu, Bocky, brilliant times.

RIP Bruce, you'll be sadly missed by all who knew you, another taken way too soon.

Was you at Wrexham away about 2004 when the Wrexham fans were torturing Stu?
He was rather a big lad like and all through the game the Wrexham fans were singing to him “two seats you’ve only got two seats.”

So sorry for your loss a lovely man we used to regularly travel away together, I can’t believe he has gone, lost my father to Cancer nearly 2 years ago, still hurts now. I hope you and your family take some small comfort from the fact he was well liked and respected by so many people. Take care of yourself in these tough times.
