• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

Now there was a player I forgot about until his name popped up in the archives for today

A few years ago (2015 maybe?) me and the missus went for a weeks holiday in September on the Costa Brava near Palamos (well known to Jack summer tourists!).
Whilst there, we took in a match at Palamos's ground between Llagostera and Racing Santander in Spanish league two.
Llagostera were a bit famous at the time for being basically a village side who had come up through the Spanish pyramid to the heady heights of the second division after playing a few years earlier in front of two men and a dog in the local park. A bit like Mumbles FC reaching the Championship. They were playing at Palamos because their village ground wasn't up to league standard.
Anyway, who should turn out for them at the age of around 36 to our great surprise but Mr Lopez. Apparently it was a case of local boy returning to his home town club after a glittering international career. Anyway, he was shyte, got subbed at half time and they lost 2-0, but it was a bittersweet experience for a pair of visiting Jacks.
