Josh Key

Noticed this loads yesterday with Key, Darling, Tymon & Peart Harris. So many times the pass was there but held on and lost it

Him and Tymon are decent enough going forward, can’t defend for toffee though, and are getting worse. The latter is probably down to the way they are being told to play.

Constantly putting us in dangerous situations trying to much with the ball then giving it away.

The "inside full back" that LW has Key playing is frankly an awful idea, Key *is* good at gliding past players with the ball at his feet, but if you want to encourage that side of his game then a player coming in from full back to take up the defensive midfield position when Grimes inevitably drops deep as a third centre half is not the place to do it.

Honestly Key has a decent turn of pace, good delivery and is good at going past a player, if you really want to encourage that side of his game shift him from full back to winger and play a full back that will actually defend. I can count at least half a dozen goals that we have conceded in the past month alone that has come from Key losing the ball in our own half with other players also out of position looking to attack.

Think the Naughton behind Key going forward has to be tried maybe at the expense of MPH...especially during this busy schedule
This is largely what I was alluding to above
Hull away on Saturday seems a good opportunity to try it out

His decision making in the final third is questionable at the moment, I'm sure playing him further up the pitch is going to make much difference.

He needs to be coached better.

Maybe the latter applies to Key, but we can't say we weren't warned about Tymon. The Stoke fans all said it when we signed him - great left foot, but can't run and can't defend.

Fair to say they were bang on the money.

and there was I thinking Key was one of our better players and contributors. He gets the ball and moves us forward but then ends up in a cul de sac because no one makes themselves available for a pass. Maybe the coach looks at that.
