JPR Williams RIP ...

Absolutely gutting. Incredible player and one of the greats.

Also won Junior Wimbledon! Oh and a top doctor.

RIP JPR

Legend indeed. Saw him play for London Welsh, Bridgend and Wales. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
R.I.P.

Lions tour of New Zealand early 70s , All Blacks resorted to thuggery to win the Tests , the 99 call was the Lions response .
All in and sod the cosequences .

Might have started when JPR had an horrfic shoeing at a maul , old black and white pictures captured the mess of his face .

Back then loved going to the Arms Park , mud everywhere , tickets like gold , but my father had a contact inside the WRU who was happy enough to give tickets to genuine fans like us , Wales are playing . match day . food in Cowbridge then Cardiff .

Added to Franz Beckenbeuer passing also , sad news all round .

All Blacks John Ashworth trampled on JPR Williams's face during the Bridgend v New Zealand match at the old Brewery Field in 1978.

He had a caravan next to my mum and dad's down Llangennith in the 70's, remember he smoked a lot, lovely guy.

RIP

A true Welsh rugby legend that never lost to England, 3 Grand Slams, 6 Triple Crowns, won with the Lions in New Zealand and South Africa and was absolutely fearless. A massive loss to our nation. RIP. x

True rugby legend. One of, if not the greatest Welsh player of any sport.
RIP.

When I was in my teens in school in Aberavon, we worshipped that Welsh team, they were superhuman in our eyes, and JPR was one of the very greatest.
RIP.

Bit of pedantry. Lions won the NZ test series in 71 (although there was some thuggery...Welsh players could dish it out too. One of the reasons we always beat the English public schoolboys). 99 call was in South Africa (always the most thuggish cheap shotters) in 74 - again series won. JPR immense in both series. His drop goal from the halfway line in 71 clinched a draw and won the series in NZ.

When he was stamped on by the all black coward at Bridgend, I seem to remember someone (his dad?) stitched his face on the touchline with 30 stitches and he came back on? I might have got that wrong and it was some other injury and game.

Brave as a lion and tough as a teak elephant. Redefined the rugby fullback.

RIP JPR. Great memories.

Fantastic rugby player and a lovely man, I was lucky enough to have been on the same field as him in when he was playing for his beloved Tondu, at Tondu Park he was in his forties then playing wing forward, but in fairness he was that fit he covered every blade of grass, spoke to him after the game in their clubhouse and he said he was still playing county level Squash, amazing lovely man, its very sad for his family and his friends that he has passed and at a youngish age these days

RIP JPR.
