As Fath alludes in his eloquent post, it's taken a global pandemic and now a parasite to get community to get together and arrange events.

It's so bloody shocking and our ancestors would be aghast at how dull we've become.

But then even if you do arrange something there's alway that minority that "I could have done better"

Also once you have a proposed event , a committee of people that have no real organisation skills get together and that can lead to the exact opposite of the aim.

I think some of us have become so busy and world weary that we'd rather do stuff on our own and with our own.

In an ideal world we'd all get along but we all know that doesn't happen.
Many different factors influence this, some are personal grudges, some are inferiority/superiority complex issues and then there are those that are simply oblivious to events and don't want to mix.
Mental health also plays a part as to whether you want to be in a large gathering of relative unknowns.
Many is the time you have the gregarious type that overbears an occasion and many is the time you have those quiet, "don't say anything to draw attention" types as well.
Ah well, people eh?

Get the sentiment Dicky, but it's not entirely true.

Big weekend here in the Ferry, all put on by locals see's a return of the legendary pram race, and culminates with a big fun day with bands and kids activities at the rugby club. Last night was a barbeque and live outdoor band at one of our cricket clubs.

The volunteers have done themselves and the town proud.

Max’s missus is in the jazz band.
I’ve got a vid it’s outstanding.

Ex Ferry Page Boy, is she? I probably know her or seen her before then. It's fantastic that they reformed for this as well.

Very little in Penllergaer and Gorseinon. The odd house here and there. The estate mafia is having a bash on “the green” as I type. Me and the dog are in the garden enjoying the cricket and listening to the top 70 rock songs of all time as voted for by Planet Rock listeners. I also have San Miguel and the sun is out. I have no particular plans to move from where I am. Happy anniversary, your maj.

I have it on good authority (my nephew), that the cool kids on the estate call it 'the ditch'. Which is probably more accurate than 'the green' if we're being honest.

Although we may be talking about different places. I mean the section down Home Farm Way, but I've just realised you may be talking about the patch of grass on Elm Crescent, which is so small it doesn't deserve a name!

Aye it’s the Elm Crescent one. I’d call it a grass verge. I assume you’re not there either.

Edit - I’m not allowed on Home Farm Way on account of not meeting the minimum earnings requirement. ;)

Nah, other side of Elm Crescent myself and enjoying home comforts on this fine day.

We use Home Farm Way to get into the woods and I can feel curtains twitching as us commoners pass through! :D

Have the family down for this week and my 4 Yr old granddaughter has cut out and coloured bunting to hang in our front window. 😁

Plenty of bunting here at Oystermouth Castle today.

Hopefully the council will let them make it an annual event again, some of the organisers should be recognised for their efforts the past 3 years,, tremendous people.
