Forgive my ignorance, but who is this Supertanskii?

Going back to the original thread, I appreciate that Labour have just had a massive kicking, but if they had any sense Milliband and Streeting say nowt and sit tight for now.
Things are going to get worse before they get better, this business in the Gulf hasn’t been sorted and we’re likely to feel a fair bit of economic pain over the next few months. DT is lashing out, when he’s not he’s changing his mind regularly, criticising all and sundry etc etc etc. Leaving Starmer in position will mean he cops all the grief and when things begin to pick up someone new can come in and get the bounce. If the Republicans loose the mid terms and the Democrats do exceedingly well, DT could find himself in all sorts of bother.
Starmer and his potential rivals need to put the country before their personal ambition.

Labour appointing Milliband as leader would be political suicide.

As would Rayner or Streeting
Streeting is not popular in the party. Rayner is now favourite with the bookies. I suspect she may surprise people and has more balls than Milliband, Starmer and Streeting combined.
The media will go thermonuclear against her which may in the end work in her favour. Burnham would be a safer choice if Starmer agrees to go by the Party Conference and a seat found for Burnham. Either way expect a shift away from diluted Tory policy

In a leadership battle:

Starmer beats Streeting the rat
Raynor beats Starmer
Burnham beats Starmer
Too tight to call Raynor v Burnham
Raynor and Burnham beat the rat.

For the avoidance of doubt I am aware that Burnham can’t currently stand. And I know it’s not individual straight shoot outs like I’ve written it above.

That's pretty much how it would pan out. Although don't rule out the unexpected. A John Major.

This country is irrevocably broken. The notion that changing the person at the top every five minutes will somehow restore faith and make things better has taken hold since Cameron shit himself and quit following the referendum. It has to be stopped somehow and some kind of law introduced that a sitting PM can’t just be dislodged at the whim of the governing party, whichever that party is.

Of the contenders

Streeting has proved himself to be an oily opportunistic prick. He’s close to Mandelson and gay. The press and social media bots will tear him apart.

I like Rayner but she’s a working class woman with an accent. The press and social media sheep will tear her apart. They’ve already done it once.

Burnham thinks more of himself than anyone else seems to. Hunting for a safe seat you say. Memo to Andy. There ain’t no such thing any more.

Miliband. I like him too but been there and done that. Jewish. Father a Marxist. Bacon sandwich picture will be out within minutes. The press and social media sheep will tear him apart.

My point is that it doesn’t matter who leads Labour. It’s the fact that they’re vaguely left wing that will lead to the hounding and eventual downfall. Seen it in the states and it’s happening here. The real power in the media and social media won’t rest until one of theirs is in charge. And then watch the fun begin.

If Starmer makes Burnham a lord, am I right in thinking that would also make Burnham eligible to stand? Not suggesting that is what Starmer will do, unless he’s resigned to going and would prefer Burnham over Streeting?

In theory a member of the HoL can be PM but in practice in 2026 it isn’t going to happen.

What an unholy mess they have made.
It’s absolutely pathetic. And the most stupid thing is that they’re actually doing a pretty decent job in many aspects. If theyd been as bold as they should have been with a 170 majority it would have been so much better mind.

Labour MP to step down to allow Burnham back in…
Starmer can't block him. He's done and dusted. He needs to be dignified now, he can't win, but he can make it less chaotic and destructive.

Burnham could lose the by-election I suppose. Everyone will be trying to take him out!!
