Seeing as Joseph seems to have promise, I was motivated to look at Scott's transfer record. Many apologies for daring to take this thread on a tangent. That's never happened on an internet forum before after all...

Suggesting Morris and Peterson may have done more under a different manager is a valid point, as would be saying that some other players may have done worse under a different manager. If a different manager had given Morris more time on the pitch, then maybe he would have impressed more. Plus, if he had been playing more minutes, then the exact scenario that led to his injury would almost certainly not have occurred, although I admit that's a tad pedantic.

Or it's just actually another opportunity to pile blame for everything on Cooper...

Cooper's job was to gain results for Swansea City. Not necessarily develop players for other clubs (if that occurs as a byproduct then great). So he should take absolutely no blame for not developing a player who was not match fit when he arrived (that was no secret). And also coming into a club on good form.

Of the games that he was available&fit for:
- Brentford H 1-1 - very finely poised game&we were down to 10& he'd only recently arrived&trained a few days prior. Correct decision to leave on bench.
- Rotherham A 1-3 - finely poised until Fulton sealed it, Morris came on for 7mins. Again very early days into his loan. Correct decision.
- Norwich H 2-0 - comfortable but against league leaders. Morris had 15mins. Building up minutes. Correct decision.
- forest H 1-0 - Roberts saved us late on but Morris was brought on in an evenly poised game for 23mins. Building up minutes. Correct decision.
- Huddersfield A 4-1. That shambolic game where Morris came on at HT so his minutes would have ramped up again had he not got injured. And starting him would in reality have done little to help the club or player.

And that was it - out injured and loan over. Do people think he was with us longer or something?

So are you actually saying that we have should have chucked him in earlier into a winning team that was scoring goals? Second guessing and criticising team selection for wins is just bizarre.

Even in these early games there were signs that he was tiring. Yet people are saying he should have played more? Some saying on top of this unready player we should also be throwing in Arriola, also not match fit and only available for a small window. Then there's people moaning about Whittaker not playing. And Cullen. We only have 11 players that can start. And all the time we were challenging for promotion.

Surely playing him playing more in these early days (remember he hadn't played in over a year before coming) in a demanding championship schedule would have vastly increased the chances of serious injury!?

Arggggh! Captain Pedantic has struck on here now :!:

Off to Cheltenham on loan, quite disappointed with that.

And me, :x

They're only a division below us mind. And with them not being one of that divisions giants like Sunderland/Wednesday etc I think he'll get plenty of game time.

Disappointed with this. Think he's looked good enough to keep him here; Lowe and Cullen are not going to be good enough for us up top, and Joseph looked more versatile than them too.

Hoping we have something up our sleeve while he gets gametime.

Lowe scored more goals from open play last season than Ayew did. Not sure how he's suddenly behind a kid with one decent appearance in the pecking order. People need to calm down a bit.

Joseph's development will be far better served by getting a full season under his belt on loan than by the odd sub or cup appearance here. It's precisely what should have happened with Cullen last year.

Exactly this.

I wouldn't say he's behind Joseph in the pecking order, that would be silly to suggest after last season. Lowe needs to be used where his attributes are best suited, which is out wide to get us into dangerous positions using his pace. Playing him up top when we seem to be edging back towards being camped on the edge of opponents boxes will not see him doing much.

Agree I'm sticking my neck out a bit with Joseph but I'd like to keep him here and ship Cullen out instead.

I'd expect both to go out on loan, especially if we do what Martin clearly wants us to do and bring in another striker. Put in recall clauses just in case we need to. Wouldn't necessarily rule out something permanent for Cullen either.

Because Lowe all round play is not good enough is movement is non existent he may do something good once every 6 or 7 games but that not good enough get him out on loan before a few others same goes for cullen

Disagree. He’s got bags of pace and good tight ball control. Much better playing out wide.

Lowe’s a good player but not a number 9, or a number 10. I didn’t realise that you didn’t know that.

Scores against MKD after 14 minutes.

Fair play hope he has a stellar season with Cheltenham then comes back here ready to go.
