I don't know where that's been sourced from, but the (frankly silly) suggestion that he's more 'impactful' than one of the best young footballers in the world will certainly raise expectations among some of our fans.
Very different leagues, but the numbers are correct

Around that time we seemed to be in desperate need for a centre half, seemed to go on for a few years until Keith Walker was moved from midfield to centre half and the rest was history.
I remember a deal didn't happen for Heikkinen because his club wanted too much for him(or so it was said) and about a year later we took a young chap on trial from Rochdale, agreed a fee of 50k of my memory serves me and then he got injured whilst with us and the deal was off....that player was future Sunderland,Leeds,Wolves and ROI international Paul Butler.

As you say, loads of trialists over the years that came to us both UK and foreign based.
I saw a lot of Paul Butler when he played for Leeds and boy he was slow (to be fair he was getting on at that stage of his career) and part of the team beaten 3-0 by Watford in the playoff final in 2006, which was a shocking performance by Leeds even worse than Swansea's effort against Brentford in 2021.

Leeds never recovered from that game against Watford and were relegated and in administration the following season.

Triple signing on 23rd November 1989 by manager Ian Evans.

Striker John Hughes(£70,000) previously a part time professional with Berwick Rangers, the signing was one third of a £260,000 package that included midfielder Keith Walker(£80,000) and striker Paul Chalmers(£110,000). A fourth player, Jack O’Donnell a part timer at Berwick Rangers changed his mind and went back to Scotland.

I wonder what happend to Jack O'Donnell ??

As other poster said.. Just stating facts. I have 0 problem hyping him up. Why not? When was last time we have been this hyped about a player? Think we all deserve little fun and excitement. I rather dream than not at all. Even if it's a mad one.

I just hope that all this doesn't lead to people judging him far too early.

Proberly. But it's always gonna happen when we sign someone for 3.5m. Unless he was signed for 500k. I understand people worrying about it, but player needs to see if he can step up.

Some people don't need a reason, it just comes naturally to them
OK that was better response than mine 🤣.. Totally agree though.. I'm just waiting for the bomb of people attacking me now 🤣.. Who cares.. I am excited about this signing, the club and looking forward to the weekend. Its a nice feeling. Not been like this for a while.

Mate, nothing wrong with looking forward to watching what difference a new exciting signing is going to make 🖤🤍

Is correct. A 12 pager suggests some may be getting carried away. Calm expectations please. Will likely need the rest of this season just to settle in. Looking forward to him winning us the match on Saturday is way too high a bar.

The last x amount of years have seen more downs than ups. 1 player signed and a good away win, I know doesn't mean we are suddenly Barcelona, and it could go the opposite way, Come the weekend. But I just want to enjoy the small moments while I can. If that means having a bit of fun with this signings then so be it. I've been to depressed for too long this season, enjoy the moment. We never know what's gonna happen tomorrow. 😜
