Walker definitely joined as a midfielder. He was tall though (6ft ish?) and had played at the back so moved there with us.

There is bizarrely a long interview online (you tube) interviewing the manager and Tommy H about the three who joined at the same time and he says on that Walker is a midfielder who can also ‘play at t he back’.

Good days. That was a great team. I particularly remember Judith (those who were there will know) with great fondness. Always liked him.

Son of the late, great, Lisbon Lion Stevie Chalmers, his granddaughter, Natalie (Paul's daughter) still lives in Birchgrove.

Phuq me - psychiatrists would have a field day with some of the posters on here. The basic need for validation and desire to be proven infallible makes for a very interesting case study.
In other news - they have invented something called grey - not everything is black and white - and sometimes (hold the front page) there can be elements of truth in both extreme positions.
Let it go - the NHS is under enough pressure without posters stroking out and getting ulcers in the need to be proven faultless.

I’m not sure it is pride - I feel proud of the team whenever they play, but I think they felt closer to us then than they do now. We kept that all the way through to the sale to the Americans. That’s the bit that was sold off in my view and can’t really ever be replaced.

Yep. Remember that like it was yesterday. Remember Michael Howard being there (the Tory cabinet minister version) because he was from Llanelli and feigned interest in us for a while?

I’m not sure it is pride - I feel proud of the team whenever they play, but I think they felt closer to us then than they do now. We kept that all the way through to the sale to the Americans. That’s the bit that was sold off in my view and can’t really ever be replaced.

I think being at the Vetch was part of it, players and Management were approachable, now you cant get withing 20 ft of them,

Was there but all a bit of a blur. I remember the games in the rounds leading up to it better.
