Add to that all the crap about the changes to the FA Cup made without consultation to EFL clubs and the game becomes further and further away from the supporter

And maybe Friday night, Saturday evening, Sunday lunch, evening.

Exactly that. It will only be a matter of time IMO before promotion and relegation to the PL is reduced in numbers season on season

They're showing 5 Championship games every weekend, so nearly half. 2 of them will be 12:30 and the other three Friday night, Saturday evening/night or Sunday. Going to be a lot less 3pm Saturday kickoffs going on from now on unfortunately.

Of course, if this stupid country of ours didn't persist with such an archaic broadcasting law that was designed in the 1950s, for the 1950s, then TV wouldn't have to drag games away from the Saturday 3pm slot.

It remains ludicrous that in 2024 the rest of the world can see 3pm kick offs in this country, yet we continue to impose a blackout on ourselves.

Perhaps it's just me but I'm finding this a bit confusing, the way I see it, Ifollow and clubs that provide thier own streaming service will still be allowed to offer PPV streams outside of the UK, before the new Sky deal they could offer subscriptions for any games outside of the 3pm blackout, but from next season Sky will hold the rights in the UK only.

To be honest the whole setup is just amateurish, even with this new deal and extra live games it's still going to be amateurish because it's still not going to be the case that every game will be shown, and as usual Sky will favour Leeds/Forest/Derby/wherever the big viewing figures are.

In 2024 we have the tech to show any game at any time, so to be putting barriers in the way of certain games for certain audiences at certain times is just utter nonsense really. Luddite behaviour.

There should be no logical reason why someone could not pay a couple hundred £ a season to get a "pass" to watch every game played by their club of choice on TV. A chunk of that should go direct to the club thus those that sell more, make more.

Build it and they will come.

It'll be there for those outside the UK, but will disappear for those in the UK. The gap in coverage for UK fans (assuming people have Sky) will be for any games not at the 3pm blackout that does not have Sky coverage. So I guess some midweek games mainly?

The article does mention there will be a lot of changes to match scheduling to fit all this in, so they probably haven't worked out all the details themselves yet..

So nothing will really change then as far as SwansTV goes? It’s never been available to UK viewers anyway, except for the odd game here or there.

I completely agree.

There are so many people who can't get to games in the flesh - they might be old and don't feel up to going out anymore, they might have a disability that stops them, they might finish work too late to travel, they might not quite be able to stretch to petrol/food/drink along with the ticket price, and many more besides.

Offering a TV ticket option to people who find it hard to be there in person seems a complete no-brainer to me.
