Luka Modric new minority owner?

Just hope this isn't another Landon Donovan situation. We all got excited when he jumped on board, also with a minority shareholding, and did virtually nothing for SCFC.
That crossed my mind, but the exposure of Modric compared to Donovan is massive plus I’m sure Donovan worked with the previous donkeys whereas Modric is coming here on his own back without from what I see no background with the new ownership, think it’s a very smart move, unless Nigel Morris tempted him here as he’s a massive spurs fan.

Its weird and cool and random that Modric has signed on as an investor with a minority stake, but I am honestly wondering what exactly are people expecting from this.

People who think he will have a quiet word with the Real Madrid owners about sending their most promising youngsters to Swansea City? It's a very different league and a very different style of play than La Liga and I can't see that happening

Expecting players to want to flock to the club just because Modric is a minority shareholder? If he was a coach or a manager that might be a different story, but I would be surprised to see him at a match day more than once or twice a year if that, let alone be in any position or situation to be coaching or teaching any players anything.

I hate to the be the one to pop people's soap bubbles here but while I wouldn't call it a publicity stunt, unless the level of his investment and influence is grossly under reported it will be a pub quiz question and not much more than that in a few months when the novelty of the report has worn off.

You have to look deeper my friend. Why on earth would we seek out Modric.
Even if his input is minimal, that'll do for me. It can only be positive and will no doubt be a better season than the crap we've endured. Don't tell me his influence can't bring in 3/4 players.

Modric would be a huge pull in Croatia and I am sure he is fully aware of young up and coming players in his own country........surely a big pull with Modric on the board.

I wonder if Bale is going to sign up as well, that would be a massive kick in the teeth to Cardiff.

By far the most important question is: where did Modric get the Swans ball from for the photo shoot? Has he actually been here? RSVP

What I like about this news is that the ambitions the new owners have align with Modric's ambitions. What I mean is, if I stop talking in football marketing buzz words for a minute, is he aint signing up to a mid-table Championship outfit who have no aspirations or plans to be more than that. Before he puts his name to it, he has to be relatively happy that they are taking us on an upward trajectory. It just reminds whether they've just spun him a yarn to get him on board, and whether or not what comes out of their wallets matches the words they've got coming out of their mouths.

Nice to see and no negatives - but I'm expecting this to have absolutely no effect on us in reality. He's wanting to make some more money at the end of the day. Nice to think that he'll have some 'contacts' for us, but I'll reserve judgement on that.

Apparently they showed him Jack to a King and that was it he asked were do I sign with tears in his eyes.

I'm not expecting much of anything whilst he's still actively playing apart from a bit of promotional work via his socials. Increasing commercial income is clearly a priority for the new ownership and someone with his reach certainly can't hurt when renewing sponsorships and stuff like that.

You only have to look at how Wrexham's commercial income has gone through the roof under R&R. We'll be looking for a similar effect. I wouldn't even rule out similar partnerships with other high profile individuals. A free small stake in the club, zero risk, in return for a bit of Instagram Spam.

I don't think this will be the revenue generator the owners think it is, but, at least they're giving something new a try. I won't criticise them for trying because lord knows the last lot had about as much interest in the club as this forum does in dry stone walling.

Let's see where it gets us.

The key is to select stones that fit together well, use "through stones" to bind layers, and fill gaps with smaller stones. Proper batter (the inward slope) and coping stones complete the wall.

If he wanted a quick return he could go play in Saudi for 12 months.
There is so much more to this than we know/realise I think.
