If you’re going on a shortish trip, have a think about Salou.

We went there on a last minute cheapie holiday a few years ago and we were quite impressed to be honest. It doesn’t have the 5 star hotels and resorts (most are 3 or 4 star) but it did have a really decent beach, a great prom, good bus and train connections with Barcelona and the neighbouring coastal towns like Cambrills (where there’s a regular market) and La Pineda, there are lots of pubs and restaurants etc etc.

We flew in to Reus airport which is very quiet airport and what we really liked was that the transfer from the airport to the resort took around 10 to 15 minutes. If you’re only going for 4 or 5 days with a 2 hour flight from Cardiff or Bristol it’s a winner. Fuengirola has a nice beach and more of a Spanish feel.

We’ve been to Majorca a number of times and it’s really nice. Our most recent trip was a 5 nighter near Can Picafort, unbeknown to me the wife had booked us in to a place that was a 2 hour transfer from the airport plus a baggage collection delay and a delay for congestion!
We'll go for a week like always, went to Cala d'Or last year hotel was ok, not a patch on some we've stayed like The Protur Alicia in Cala Bona and the Protur Bonamar Adults only.

The Hotel Astoria in Alcudia was fantastic went there in 2017, bit of a walk to beach, but what a hotel and again an Adults only Hotel without the rug-rats running around screaming and shouting.

The Botel Alcudiamar Club that's on the marina perched out in the bay, is a beautiful hotel, we used to walk up there after lunch we had lunch there a few times and sit out on the terrace facing the sea and Alcudia beach, fantastic setting. Alcudia itself was a bit of a let down there.

Been to Cala d’Or five or six times when my kids were younger. Loved it there. If I won the lottery I’d definitely buy a place on Majorca.

Looking like Praia da Rocha in Portugal now, we've talked about Portugal for a couple of years, my cousin and his Wife love it there.

I really liked Seville, we went there a few years ago and had a great time. It’s one place I’d definitely return to.

The airport is fairly large, but it’s not as busy as the airports on the Costas and you should be fine. Enjoy.
We are moving on tomorrow which is a shame, could have done with an extra night. It’s the week of Semana Santa, which my wife wanted to see; I’m not religious by any stretch of the imagination, but even I am a little bit in awe of the scale of the nightly parades.

That little grid of streets full of bars and restaurants makes some fond memories for me. Haven’t been there for years, it wasn’t overly commercialised back then and I hope it has kept its quaintness.

I haven’t been for over 10 years myself, so I must be due to revisit now.

Busy place Newcastle v Liverpool game was on in the week we were there watched it in an Irish bar 7 euro for pint of Guinness, we used to go to a bar that had a Macaw that was outside on his perch that was our regular haunt along with the music bar opposite up on the corner, Marina was disappointing for me, booked for Portugal now be a change from Majorca.

I just found a photo of the macaw on my phone. Amazing looking back in time, haven’t seen this in years. And yes, we also found the marina a bit naff with not much there.

Sevilla this evening, €8 for a glass of wine and a pint in a downtown bar.

Nasty bugger he is, although I didn't get that close, a few that did were quickly told off by staff and rightly so, in my opinion.

We wasn't going back there this year, looked at cala bona again and Alcudia only to go and stay at The Botel Alcudiamar Club, but pointless to just go there to stay there, looked at mainland Spain, but we've talked about Portugal for a while so we bit the bullet and booked, Italy was another option.

Where's the places to go on mainland Spain Beach resorts? we've been to Barca a few times it's great there, done Majorca to many times time for a change, thinking of Portugal as well, Cousin and his Wife love it there, we like the beach/harbour areas when we go to Majorca, my cousin did mention an area, I'll have to ask him again.
Tbh we're not really ones for lying on the beach all day. In Portugal 1 of our favourite places is Cabanas de tavira, it's small on an inlet with lots of great fish restaurants, you can get a 5 minute boat taxi to a lovely island with great beach and cafes. Close to tavira Town which built on a river. There's a massive beach at monte gordo too ,again a small town just over the border from Spain. Some very "spanish " beach places are El Rompido on the huelva coast. Personally I'd avoid albufeira it's turned into a tacky resort with loads of karaoke bars. Going up the coast mojacar playa is a place brits go to, haven't been there for yonks so not sure what it like now. We tend to go for smaller more "spanish " places, especially where there's good fish. Don't know if any of that helps, depends what you're looking for, Un Saludo!

We don't lie on the Beach mun we just enjoy that environment nice walks along promenade the views of the sea/beach etc, stopping for a coffee or the odd sarsaparilla etc nice walk around harbours, we do spend time on the beach of course, I love swimming in the sea abroad or at home for that matter as well as the hotel pools.

I've seen video's on You-tube of the Bass fishing in Portugal, usually off rocky areas rocky out crops, rough ground produce rough conditions that the bass love cause all the on what they feed on getting washed around, some good fishing there it seems, its doubtful if I'll participate though a decent lure travel rod is around 500 quid which I won't be buying, be nice to see people fishing for them though, it'll encourage me to head back to my old Bassing haunts in Gower.
