It’s a firm no from me. Not a fan of Managers returning to clubs - which is why I am against Rodger’s too.

However - Russell Martin got us a 9th place finish with a squad which included in his starting 11 - Sorinola, Fulton, Cooper, Cullen & Naughton at RB.
If he had our current squad 3 years ago I think we’d have got promoted
We finished 10th not 8th.....that squad properly managed could have made the playoffs.....are you forgeting that run of 1 win in 23?
He rescued his season by abandoning his phillosphy to get some results before reverting to type

He also just scraped promotion with a Southampton side that should have been jn the automatics.its only because Leeds couldnt finish on the day that he scraped the play off final......

I’m not advocating on him returning

But I do think he would get more from this squad than Sheehan has done based on how he managed our 22/23 season squad which was much poorer than our current team, in my opinion

I think Martin did an okay job with us. Nothing he did with us or since has convinced me he would be the right person to drag us upwards though.

Apart from the players who are still here (Cullen, Cabango), he had Piroe, Manning, Darling, Allen, Grimes, Obafemi, Ntcham, Naughton.

There's a strong argument that team was better than our current team, far from 'much poorer'.

Piroe > Vipotnik
Obafemi > Idah
Ntcham > anyone we've tried as a No 10
Naughton > Key

Grimes, Allen and Manning are arguable against the likes of Franco, Stamenic, Tymon. The only ones I think we've clearly improved on are Darling with Burgess and Galbraith over Grimes or Allen.

A bookmaker makes him favourite. Means
F all.

Bookies made Hellberg favourite..F all happened

I don't know why people get worked up. What will be will be, we know F all what's really going on.

And for the record, Hell NO for Martin. But not going to happen, let's get real.

Not sure I agree but I take your point. Allen, Naughton & Obafemi were poor players in Martins tenure

I think our strength in depth is massively improved. Look at our bench under Martin & then look at our bench this season - Eom, Yalcouye, Idah, Widell, Ronald are much better options that we had under Martin to bring on from the Bench

One of the faults we had under Martin was we severely lacked in wing backs which we needed for his preferred style. Naughton & Sorinola were very poor in that regard.
We then brought Key & Tymon who I think would’ve suited that style

I’m not sure why I’m defending Martin as I think it would be a terrible appointment 😂 but I stick with my thoughts

So when we were on our miserable run of three wins in twenty three (or whatever it was), the population around you was pro Martin?
Of course people were unhappy but many could see that there was some progress and like it or not an identity,, easy to forget goals like we scored at Wigan which for me was right up there with the Fulham clip that was played over and over again when we were in the Premiership.

Sat amongst the fans during his time at the club, I’d say that was a good indicator, certainly better than listening to some of the tripe on here.
Six to eight of us have sat together in the east since 2005. I say six to eight because two refused to renew during Martin’s tenure. The remaining six may well do the same if he returns. Feelings run deep.

Honestly 🤣…shows what fans have become and I use that term loosely,I remember saying the same thing only then it was at the Vetch in the real bad days…never stopped going mind and you and your mates wouldn’t either, amazing what a couple of wins and a few fist pumps can do.

A lot of people boxing themselves in on this thread, here’s some advice….when you walk out the room always leave the door ajar never close it behind you👍
