I think we might well look back more fondly on him than the experience of him has felt like.

Darran campaigned for years for the club to bring in the P.E. teacher and we all know how that ended. Ignore anything he says about about football, and anything else in general. The bloke can’t even spell his own name ffs. 👍🏻

Prick.

I don’t think he is what we need, but the after match made me a lot more optimistic about his connection with players. The reactions of Benda and Obafemi, both of whom have reason to not be his biggest supporters, surprised and encouraged me. No way should we be extending his contract though.

I find it difficult to dislike him, although he frustrates the hell out of me.

His instincts are good. He clearly wants to play football the right way and when we are on our game and playing well we're a hell of a lot of fun to watch. The problems for me lie in the way he clearly has his favourite players who feature come what may, whilst others can quickly find themselves out of favour and out of the squad. That and the fact that we're still regularly gifting chances and goals with some suicidal defensive play.

A team is highly unlikely to get promoted when they concede as many goals as we do. If he can't get to grips with that issue then his tenure will probably end in ignominious failure.

I know what you’re saying but if Winter is saying our budget is bottom third Championship, promotion isn’t in his remit. His time here won’t be judged on whether we go up or not.

2 wins on the spin is great and we are all delighted. However let's just look at the table and see where those two teams are. Win our next two and we can sit up and be more confident.

10 points from 5 games is unarguable. Must be close to top of current form. Should be 13 from 5. Champion form.

No, I don’t think it will continue, but it’s still unarguable and when we play properly we look a very good side. I don’t care what we spend. In 2011 we must have been very low, and Stoke have spent their arses off for years. That’s just an excuse from a poor CE to try and lower expectations. Sod that.

Be interesting to know where our budget was in comparison to the rest of the division the last time we got promoted.

Realistically we're not going to spend our way back to the Prem. We have to be smart about it. Build a team greater than the sum of its parts over time.

I think the footballing landscape has changed since then. For example we were able to keep Ashley Williams, who was outstanding in the Championship (and also very accomplished in the Prem) for the 3 seasons we were there. There seems to be a lot more danger of losing your best players
now than there was back then which means more likely that player turnover is higher, which brings challenges when trying to build a team over time. Brentford have proved it can be done though.

Although he was on a decent wedge, we had Alan Tate at right back when we were promoted and the Italian loanee to add to Sinclair's goals. Taylor at left back played to a script every game, sprint to half way, stop, turn back.

This squad is a lot better. Manning and Sorinola are better than Tate and Taylor and these are key positions to our style in my view.

I am still not quite sure what Martinball is, other than fanny around at the back and play out of trouble through the middle.

Well that game had everything really.

The good, the bad and the ugly.

Playing well, lost our way. Gifted WBA the lead but pulled ourselves back into it.

The pen save by Benda was the turning point, the winner well what can you say?

Still a few nervous 5 mins but we played it out better than in other games.

Support was excellent, so I can say I enjoyed the game.

3 points but we still need rid of some of the lazy sloppy play.

This division is wide open, it's been mentioned enough times about consistency. Can we have it?

It must have been crowded at right back.

Probably similar to where we are now but events like that don’t happen regularly. That was years of superb scouting, a club all in it together, that isn’t us at the moment.

I could have sworn that we had Rangel at right back forming what was a devastating partnership with Nathan Dyer on our right flank in our promotion season.

It wasn't too shabby a combo in the Premier league either.

We beat QPR also and look where they are
