• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

I think I've seen one of the worst takes on a footballer ever this morning. I like Grimes and think he takes a lot of unfair flak, but he's now receiving comparisons to Leon Britton. That in itself is not a bad take if you are saying he's the closest we've had to Britton since his peak.

In defence of that comparison though, I've seen a Swans fan state that Leon wasn't as good at age 25 as Grimes is now, in such a pivotal position. A quick check reveals that Leon's age 25 season was 07/08. Yes, the season under Martinez in which he completed his transformation from a more creative and attacking midfielder to the fulcrum of our midfield and became absolutely fundamental to the style of football which took us to the top half of the PL and Europe.

Unless my memory is failing me (always a possibility) or my maths is wrong (an even stronger possibility), that is an incredibly bad comparison to make.

Never been a fan to be honest, but I have to admit he's playing well of late. Still don't think he's a captain. Ayew or Bennett for me.

Grimes has been lazy and complacent now he has real competition and benched its kicked him up the arse at last !

Grimes is as good as Britton and also carries the captaincy in an individual and calming style.

Grimes is gooing to be around for 5 years so is a good bet for long term planning and succession.

Brittton left for Sheffield where he played a different role to that at Swansea though in fairness that was a managerial error.

Borth Grimes and Britton are top academy players, Britton came through Lilleshall which produced internationals.

Britton was not an international senior unfortunately. Grimes might be though we will need to play in the Premiership.

We have a decent player in Grimes who has managed to stay injury free and ia now enjoying the support of a more balanced squad.

I am fairly sure Grimes will have a good season.

Neither Britton or Grmes score enough though Grimes has the better dead ball ability.

They are of course different players, Grimes being more like Allen than Britton so it is a reaching comparison to make.

You’re always on the wrong side of history Al. Now start taking note, you know I’ll be proven right in the end, just try to keep up now, g’boy.
