• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

Medical emergencies at games

The protocols for medical emergencies at games has changed since the pandemic. This means the game is always stopped and players leave the field while the person in trouble is attended too and taken to a ambulance.

This obviously means that any medical treatment given in the ground will be a lot more noticeable than it has been in the past.

Coupled with the media frenzy who love to jump to any conclusion If it results in clicks.

So it’s not people dropping like flies because of Covid vaccines then?

As some on here will know, my Son collapsed & died at 20 yo in 2001.
He was physically fit, played sport didn't smoke & rarely had a drink.

No Covid then or Covid vaccines, so I think it has always been happening but maybe more publicised now since the pandemic

So pre-covid these types of incidents were happening every week?

This season? with alarming regularity, I don't have the numbers but it has been every week since at least December

3 incidents in one batch of 3pm kickoffs alone today suggests it has to be more than a policy change.

I think you’d be surprised … I can remember a number of occasions over the last few years of fans being taken ill down the Swans and paramedics needing to take them away, but game doesn’t stop so no fuss made.

I’d imagine over the 90 odd games played each weekend you’d get 2 or 3 cases a week of people falling ill during games.

Thanks mate, it gets easier to handle as the years go by but still coming to terms with the coroner saying it was death by natural causes.

Too little was known about sudden death syndrome at that time, so inevitably the cause was put down on his certificate as 'natural'.

I know it's different for everyone as its deeply personal but having watch my brother pass at an early age I can definitely empathise with your loss. Also lost my dad and gran in 2021.

It does get easier but it never goes away.

I remember a poor guy having a fit in the North Bank against Newcastle in the old first division back in the 80's, St John's came in and held him down to stop him banging his head and he was led away when he came around, saw him later that night in the Queens, the game didn't stop, how times have changed 😉
