The thing with quite a few of them is that they aren’t necessarily racist, but are very gullible.

They’ll believe anything they see posted on socials, then rush to post it themselves without giving it a second thought of whether it blatant lies or twisted truths.

Far from it, more of a growing sense of frustration at how consecutive governments have failed to get this under control. The current opposition do nothing to ease this frustration by shouting ‘fail’ about a subject at which they failed themselves. The longer this goes on, the more the country becomes divided. Sad to see, and yes, dark days ahead.

Yes even the far feckin right

This is an issue. A big issue and it needs a resolution. I don’t think anyone doubts this bar the biggest pinko (you’re probably talking less than a few percent here)

I do find it a very depressing topic. The way that normal functioning decent people are increasingly being radicalised by people with vested interests in division is so sad. And they just will never see it.

The problem that I foresee is that Starmer/Cooper will sort this in collaboration with our EU partners (yes collaboration…) and boats in a few years will be next to zero. Mark my words.

The issue then fundamentally is that the right will move again. They will need to keep the immigration game in play. So that leaves room towards more extremes and let’s be honest it’s in the end a trope for we want to go back to white Britain (whenever that was..)

But yes. 100% it needs sorting and 100% it needs gripping.

Funnily enough boats didn’t exist before Brexit and funnily enough we had a completely different immigrant demographic.

What this again shows is rhetoric trumps reality. Good sensible leadership is required which I think Starmer is showing.

But my fear is that it’ll never be enough. Too many are radicalised now and we’re fecked for a long time.

Excellent post. As I said, there are dark and dangerous times ahead. Everyone should be careful with the language and rhetoric they use and share.

You can see the dangers of this mentality already.

A prime example is the Afghans. How could any decent civilised person with any integrity not welcome people who have literally helped our “boys” in a war.

If you are indeed a patriot you should campaigning to help these people to resettle in the UK. They have earned the right.

If you think “feck em they’re brown” (come on have a word with that voice in your head) then you are a racist.

Sadly that last paragraph is where we are as of today.

There’ll always been a percentage of population who blame everything on immigration but historically that is relatively small.

There will never be an answer good enough now for many.
