5 pay outs I think now from sackings

Technically he resigned from Leeds, otherwise it'd be 5/5. Five jobs, five sackings. He must be gutted that he doesn't have Martinez' skill at failing upwards.

Martinez has done well most jobs - although surprised he’s ended up and lasted with Belgium

That period after he took over and the football we played here will stay with me for years

I think that’s very harsh on Roberto. We are playing good football under Cooper for the most part but I’d definitely have him back if the opportunity arose.

Wonder which championship club will take a punt on him next. I think Derby or Barnsley beckon.

Running out of Championship clubs now.

League One beckons, Wigan are doing crap, maybe they'll take a chance on him.

How to make a decent living blaggin yer way from club to club. Has had about as much success as Alan Partridge had with women.

Will be worth a pretty penny, he won't be claiming any financial hardship soon

Strange game football, you get rewarded highly for failure as a manager

Yes indeed but as I said earlier on twitter his payout will not compare to what some players in the EPL earn per week.

Time for him to take a break and take stock of things and another job is the last thing he needs right now. He can still dine out to a degree on his Premier League finish with us but he hasn’t got many chances left. Needs to take his time and carefully plot what to do next.

Oh I'd agree with that but it's still a reward for failure.

Should be a job going up the road soon, he can commute from his gaff in Killay an all 👍

Got Belgium to the top of the World Rankings too. I know that's a bit of a weird ranking system and it relies on chance to a degree as to when top players come through. But he still had to put all that together.

People don't like him because of the manner in which he left. Wigan were the team to first bring him over here though and maybe he was happier working for Dave Whelan than for big conk. The PL money obviously sweetened the deal though, of course.

Arguably failure is rewarded more than success. Can't think of any other profession where this is the case. Strange indeed.

This is true

Benitez was sacked from Liverpool with a very large payout and within days (I think) he was appointed at Inter Milan who were the reigning Champions of Europe

A very strange industry where the workers (players) earn more than the management team. They can play badly and often be seen not to try for a manager ("he has lost the dressing room") but are fully protected yet the manager isn't, gets a pay off, a signing on fee and a new job.

Does this mean that James Beattie is out on his arse again as well?

Tell you what though, from listening to his co-comms it seems likely that Kristian O'Leary was the smartest one of the bunch when they were here. Been very impressed with his input in games. Much better than listening to Wyndham Evans.

I don’t mind KOL, decent an honest lower league soldier for us, often seen walking through Swansea town centre stuffing a Gregg’s in his playing days, but as a commentator it is obvious he is a long ball merchant, always calling for the quick long ball bypassing midfield and giving the ‘strikers’ scraps to feed off. That’s his whole game plan.
