Morgan Whittaker Stays

These transfer window deadline day shots shytshows were going on before Martin came though

Aye this goes back as far as the big nose era when we were picking off the best the Premier League had to offer, Sky Sports used to send down the roving reporter on "Deadline Day" to camp outside Faiwood in the early days, then the Liberty more recently for absolutely sweet fuk all...
Basically, we are tight as fù k

Don't get me wrong, Obafemi, Patterson and Whittaker can all go fuk themselves, but the bottom line is our club has become a basket case under Martin, I bet Ryan Manning can't get away quick enough, and only a few points off the top 6 with two wins in how many games...

If we get in to the play offs and somehow ended up promoted would Manning still be keen to seek pastures new with his signing on bonus or would he want a new signing on bonus with Swansea?

I very much suspect that if we got promoted that Manning would take on a new deal unless another prem side offered him better terms rather than going back to another Championship side. He is young enough that a good season in the prem with a newly promoted side would put him in the shop window for a far more lucrative contract either with us or a mid table side eager to take a punt on a fullback who gets goals and assists.

Obafemi and Paterson I fully agree with however I would argue that its harsh to tar Whittaker with the same brush. Considering how he has been messed about and with very solid interest from Rangers I can fully see why he would make sure he didn't play against QPR in case they came in with a serious enough bid that met our valuation.

With us having weathered that particular storm the real question mark now will be if RM will properly utilise him in his best position (attacking midfield rather than as a striker or winger) and if Whittaker will knuckle down to give himself the best advertisement for the summer transfer window.

So a lad who doesn't want to be here, a manager who doesn't want him, but the board want him used. Complete disconnect between senior management over here and the owners. Things need to change.

Correct. If he’s not turned up for the QPR game then he needs to be disciplined before he walks into a match day squad. Nobody is bigger than the club, especially not some young upstart who is finding his way in the game.

From Russ' comments about that, it seemed mutual. Ir at least Martin was happy enough that it was needed and in everyone's best interests for him to sit that one out. There's still part of me that thinks we were still protecting our asset then as well, despite what anyone said, hoping for a sale.

It can't be drawn out though. If he doesn't leave today, then yeah absolutely he needs to get his head right. We don't want another Patterson or Obafemi situation with a perfectly good player going to waste.

Would he offer more Piroe... or can anybody seeing him playing along Piroe ? 2 players who don't press from the front but both natural goal scorers. Could this be a case of fitting a team around MW a bit like Ayew we have done in the past.

I think that's the issue. Martin doesn't think he has the energy to play in his side. We needed legs, hence Martin's obsession with Ogbene.

None of us know if Whittaker is actually any good, of course. I think Lati might look good playing in league one for the leaders.

After all the hype, is it only Rangers that have shown interest?

You'd have thought at least rumours from somewhere else.

Not sure why we couldn't broker a deal with Plymouth considering where they are in the league.

Are they not interested at all in getting him back there?
